Biography

As a child, Euclid was exceptionally clumsy. His many falls and tumbles into the dirt and dust dulled his scales, though it seems that nothing in Sornieth can dull the bright, vivid pink shine of his belly.

Euclid had never traveled far from his home near the Pillar of the Earth. As his older siblings left the lair one by one, Euclid and his remaining brothers and sisters made an agreement with one another to leave the clan together and seek out adventure in the vast world. Though they stayed as a group for the first leg of the journey, they were quickly split up. Some made friends in the clan of their many hosts and desired to stay, others found employment through their various talents... and some even found love.

One by one they parted until only Euclid was left to journey on his own.

With no one to accompany him, Euclid was free to explore at his own pace. He took an extended vacation in the Viridian Labyrinth, enjoying the lush greenery that seemed so alien compared to the barren landscape of his homeland. It was there he quite literally stumbled into the work space of Desolace, a wandering scientist, while he was collecting and examining soil samples in The Gladeveins. Noticing he bungled what was probably hours of this old dragon's work, Euclid offered to stay and help clear up the mess and set up the equipment again. And that was how Euclid found himself the permanent assistant of a cranky, aging edaphologist on his journey around Sornieth.

The study of innate magic in the soil and its effect on living things is actually pretty fascinating to Euclid, and Desolace is more than happy to have a student who is genuinely interested in his work. He sometimes takes over performing experiments and taking notes in their journals when the wildclaw's arthritis acts up.

After many misadventures, failed experiments, the occasional scientific breakthrough (this is a matter of opinion, really), and one near run-in with an angry ex-lover of Desolace ("And this is why I wanted to avoid the eastern border of The Tangled Wood, thank you very much!") the pair finally settled in Desolace's native Windswept Plateau.

The Reedcleft Ascent is Euclid's favorite place in Wind territory, much to Desolace's displeasure. The old wildclaw has had to haul Euclid out of the crevasses on more than one occasion. Euclid calls it a fun learning experience; Desolace calls it "murder on my back."
