"Well, hello. Don't just stand there looking gorgeous -- the drinks don't cost much"-Moxii
"Fortune, my dear, I'm opening the bar. Do make sure your father is tucked away, I'm not terribly interested in bullying him back upstairs when we get busy," Moxii calls, keys grasped in a sharp talon; she doesn't move to open the front door of The Alchemist until she hears her counterpart sigh deeply and lumber up the stairs to check on her wayward father. Even at such an early hour a small collection of patrons are outside waiting; their reputation has preceded them.
They'd arrived here last night after weeks of travel, dusty and road-weary; moving The Alchemist is never easy, and even after all this time she doesn't quite understand the process- Miss Fortune handles all of it, from scouting new locations to using the strange magic to move the bar after they arrive. She's been doing it for years- Moxii usually just tags along. Door unlocked, she moves behind the bar, tapping her claws idly as patrons begin to meander in.
The crowd is small, mostly regulars- which, given that it's their first day after moving, is understandable- and she relaxes, falling into the easy rhythm of pouring and mixing and serving. Miss Fortune returns downstairs after situating her father, freeing her to move about the bar; she greets her more favored patrons first, pressing glasses full of various drinks into their claws, then eyes the new patrons that have managed to stumble inside.
One, in particular, catches her eye- a male, built on strong lines and with sharp eyes. He watches her from near the doorway, brow furrowed; upon catching him looking she winks, and when he glances away, she feels a hunger stir along the runes etched into her sides. Power, they sing, pulsing red-hot against her scales It's been a while since she last indulged herself. Perhaps, since they've moved, it'll be safe to lure him in, even if she's exhausted. She'll lay a trap and wait; if the fly makes its way into her web, she'll gladly consume it.
She makes her way back to the bar, smiling syrupy-sweet at her partner; Miss Fortune sighs audibly, rolling her eyes, but she doesn't protest, reaching out to clasp her talons around Moxii's shoulder. "If you're going to feed, do it upstairs, at least. The reason we had to move last time was because you made a mess out back and people started getting suspicious. And clean up, after- you know how I feel about the smell. If you leave it for me to do I'll make you work solo for a month."
"My dear, you have my word. No mess, no cleanup. It's that delectable male near the front- he's not a regular, so no questions. I am sorry about last time- he just struggled so much. I'll be more careful," Moxii promises, glancing back out at the bar. The male is still watching her, and she beckons him over. He doesn't come immediately, looking surprised, but when she smiles he starts to meander over.
"Glad to hear that you're learning some restraint. I'll watch the bar, I suppose. Father's set up in his corner- do try to be quiet."
Moxii smiles, then, baring her teeth; Miss Fortune smiles back, sharp fangs glinting in the low light, and they share a quiet, private chuckle before Moxii turns away, leading her next meal up the stairs.
