Although Athena was nominally hired by Elyta to work on traps for both hunting purposes and for the clan's defense, trap making is more than an occupation for her. It is an obsession. To her, the artistic design of the trap, and its elaborateness, is just as important as - if not more important than - its function. She can weave nets of surprising delicateness and strength, and all of her traps, regardless of construction, have an intricate complexity and an intelligent design.

Athena has also worked with the clan's exorcists to create traps near the boundary with the spirit realm to help catch malevolent spirits who wander over the borders, though she relies on the mages to enchant her traps.

She has a very logical, mechanical mind, but she also has a playful side. She has created maze-like pseudo-traps that function as playthings for hatchlings, crafty toys that teach them survival skills.
