Once upon a time, the Shade returned.

It was the Arcanist who first realized its reappearance in the shadowy magic creeping across the Starfall Isles, and it was he who warned the other gods. Having already witness what discord the dark entity could bring, the gods elected to lock the Shade on a small island so it would cause no harm. They evacuated the few who lived on the island and ordered their underlings to go after the Shade. The race to capture and imprison the Shade was desperate, and many of the brave dragons who went to engage it were lost.

With the combine efforts of all eleven flights, the Shade was finally subdued and locked on the island, contained by many powerful spells. The dark entity was furious, but there was nothing it could do against the might of the dragons that trapped it there. The dragons celebrated their victory over their archnemesis, and many nights were spent cheering around bonfires.

But the fight was far from over.

In their haste to evacuate, the former inhabitants of the island had left a single egg behind. The hatchling of the egg only came forth from its shattered shell long after the Shade had been imprisoned. She had no identity, no will of her own, and she did nothing to protect herself as the Shade charged to devour her.

The Arcanist heard the quiet whine of the hatchling as the Shade struck, and with his siblings, he dashed through the skies to save her. The gods broke the barrier shielding the island and rushed in to the rescue, but they were too late -- the hatchling had already been absorbed.

She was both demonic and draconic, and she was something new.

They called her "Darma".

Silent and mysterious, Darma is not an often-seen member of the clan. She keeps to herself and prefers the company of books over that of what she considers "organic life forms". Darma appears to have no specific personality, and most of the time she adopts a persona that would make the dragon she is speaking to more comfortable. If she is speaking to a sad dragon, then she would bear a comforting aura. If it is a happy dragon she is speaking to, then Darma would become equally happy. If it's a crazy dragon she is speaking to, then Darma would probably just annihilate them. Darma despises disorderly minds.

Due to the mysterious energies in her body, Darma's aura is enough to absorb all the magic surrounding her, though she cannot use the sapped power. Therefore, there is a certain area around her that is called the "field of cancellation", where all magic becomes void. However, being a parallel fighter versed in combat, Darma doesn't need to depend on this ability to defeat others in a fight. She can beat up anyone who gets in her face, magic or no.
