Biography
What becomes of one who consumes treasure?
The heritage of gold-eaters was short, twisted. Kinked. The empress fell ill more than she flew in the skies, and the emperor himself bathed in coin every night, in absence of his mate. Children and children more were bred under the metal tongue, and all souls fell upon themselves in awe of their splendor. They begged to touch their shimmering hides, pouring their treasure upon the piles in the great den.
Arthomei maps the world in search of ever more treasure to eat, as is the tradition of his lineage. Once a full moon, a dragon of golden blood must consume ten trunks of gold to preserve his hide of lustre. As is the tradition, a goldblood who does not consume their bounty of treasure is cast out from the family.
Arthomei adorns his body with golden decorations in preparation for that night of feast. He licks the scales under the jewelry, slowly, savoring, hungry with anticipation. His peers grow weary of his lustful gaze for the yellow riches.
He grows dissatisfied. The clan rebukes him for wasting treasure, for stealing from the hoard. They are giving chase. He flees. The moon calls to him, to his sheen, his lustre, his golden lustre.
He knows.
It is wrong. It is all wrong.
