Biography

Castelle
|| Head Mage ||
I'll blow the doors off their hinges! I DON'T CARE!

eSyTGBM.png

Castelle was reborn from a collapsed portal. Or at least that’s what her clanmates tell her. They also tell her that a mad king kept her past incarnation imprisoned in a dimensional maze underneath the Observatory. While she finds the whole story intriguing, she hardly believes it, either. Yet, according to her clan mates, this story would explain certain otherwise-inexplicable feelings and habits.

For instance, she feels herself drawn to spherical objects and feels compelled to hoard them. Almost obsessively. Much to her embarrassment, in fact, she’s discovered that when she occasionally sleep walks, she also sleep-steals every sphere in the lair. She’s engaged in verbal fisticuffs with Helios over her accidental possession of his pearl on numerous occasions.

She also becomes incredibly anxious in cramped quarters, if she stays indoors too long, or even if she’s in a room with a door that locks. Shortly after Selene appointed her Head Mage, Peter accidentally locked Castelle in her office, promptly causing her to panic and blow a hole in the side of the lair. After that, she removed all the doors from her offices and sleeping quarters. With more explosions. Castelle eventually calmed down, but she refused to speak to Peter for weeks. She still obstinately refuses to fix the hole in her office’s wall, despite the security risk.

Despite her occasional…explosions, Castelle is generally level-headed and gets along well with her clan mates. Though she isn’t particularly close with any of them, she’s very much an extrovert and has a constant need for conversation. Her office is always open to any clan mate who needs assistance with their magic studies (and not just because she long ago reduced the door to glowing splinters). She confesses that she very much enjoys the sound of dragons’ voices. In fact, she’ll often think aloud when she’s alone.

Though she longs for company, she’s also taken measures to keep her clan mates at a comfortable distance. Their insistence that she came from a phenomenon that—according to all her research—is most likely impossible makes her wonder if they’re keeping something from her. Though she finds the idea of a conspiracy against her just as laughable as her origin story, she’s yet to find a reasonable alternative. Moreover, she finds her clan mates’ insistence increasingly frustrating. She spends a good portion of her time studying and researching everything portal-related. She isn’t sure if she wants to prove or disprove her miraculous origin story, but she does want the truth.

Because of this, she finds herself drawn to her apprentice, Charon. The young mage (though he calls himself an artist) came to the clan long after Castelle, and is thus just as skeptical of the origin story as she is. Though Castelle sometimes has a difficult time balancing professionalism and friendship, Charon seems to care about her as a valuable mentor and companion. Castelle, similarly, sees Charon almost like a younger brother. Though she tries to keep from seeming too overbearing, she often has a hard time turning a blind eye to Charon’s more dangerous attempts at spellcasting.
