"Curses worse than a sailor"


A very straightforward more or less soldier. Digs tunnels like his life depends on it when not training the newcomers of the clan and his love for a good fistfight is well known among the permanent residents. Beware: the hits easiest to dodge are always just distraction.

Washed up on the shores of the Northern icefield with his adoptive brother, he wandered the tundra until Tyra found them and brought them back to the tiny cave Quind had carved for them. Later his brother couldn´t take the cold anymore and returned to mainland, leaving Baranta feeling abandoned even more so when his coliseum mates left to serve the Icewarden. Eventually Quind made a deal with a certain wind-clan to have him trained and distracted from his loneliness. Now he is responsible of training all exalting dragons. The cursing is most likely a habit picked from Eisuke on an early age.

"Baranta! Kid!" he called into the dusty darkness but got no response. "Sh*t, sh*t! Give me the lamp and get Quind! NOW!" he ordered catching the electric lamp Voluntia threw down before vanishing to climb up to the upper levels.
This time Eisuke had to use the oxygen tank, there was more dust than air to breathe making it almost impossible to see anything so he had to feel his way to the sharp drop of the tunnel mouth. He slid one leg over the edge but the ground crumbled under him and he slid down along with it raising more dust in the air along the way. It stung in his eyes as he struggled to see the way ahead. The tunnel was very small, too small to stand or properly crouch so he had to crawl through the wall of dust, why didn´t he think to take goggles with him? No wonder Baranta never took off his protective eyewear.
´Curse that idiot and his habit of getting into danger! I swear if you´re dead I will bring you back just to kill you again!´ he thought darkly while forcing his way foward. Soon he had to crawl over loose stones and sand... and a hand.
The breath caught in his troath. ´No...´ he tought and just stared in stunned horror for what seemed like an eternity. It felt like the world slowed down, the dust swirling around him in utter silence, the surroundings illuminated in a cold bluish light that reminded him of the cold evening he first saw the boy, eyes the same electric blue.
Without thinking Eisuke grabbed the hand and almost jumped out of his skin when said hand grabbed back. Hastily he started to dig through the boulders and rubble, finally creating enough of a gap to see the young man´s face, bruised and dusty but with enough life in them to crack open an eye and look back. Baranta coughed a little, some blood dripping down his chin and cracked a pathetic smile. "Hi dad..."
