Sunrise

Her father was the one who actively raised them, but Sunrise learned more from watching Seashore. Her mother was busy and, even when she spent time with her daughters, distant. But Sunrise payed close attention to the way she carried herself, and the tone of her voice when she conducted business. Soon, people had other reasons to listen to Sunrise than the fact that her mother was their boss. Her confidence is intimidating, and though she is always perfectly polite and cheerful, there's an edge in her voice that suggests she should be taken seriously.

Sunrise adores the sun and the sea, but feels she must expand her horizons in order to be successful. She smells of citrus and brand new books, loves to plan parties, and has extremely vivid and detailed dreams.

She was picked up by Captain Aureila during one of her many excursions to the Sea of a Thousand Currents, after the dear captain's first mate decided to get mouthy. Sunrise impressed the Pirate queen with the way she handled herself, fearless and confident in everything she did, but also in the way she moved.

Aureila will never forget the way Sunrise glided upon the waves like she and the ocean were twins that could mimic each other in every motion, every moment.

That was, I think, when she knew she had to take Sunrise along with her, if only to see her windsurf like that again.
