Kteatus' pull towards the ocean started at a young age. Though born into a Wind clan, he longed to explore the tide pools--an interest fostered in him by his parents. Having left before receiving a name, he waded into the waves as an unnnamed visitor. It was there he met his grandmother, Neptune, in the form of a dream. She had left this world long ago to serve the Tidelord, yet her spirit would greet him many a calm evenings and quell the rushing tide that tossed his young heart. She riddled him the vague tales of possibilities that awaited him.
Wrapped in kelp, he was sung to sleep each night by the songs trapped in fluted shells. In the early light of each dawn, he was awoken by the crash of waves upon rock-iron shores. This once strange dragon, become a familiar face among the coral reefs. As days turned into weeks, and weeks turned into months, he began to stare at his reflection and wonder 'What now?' Was it time for a new adventure? His excursions had shown him the mysteries and duality of water, but now he was ready to see what his grandmother's spirit knew but had not shown him.
On what would be the last night of his grandmother's visits, she gifted him with his name 'Kteatus'. He became the first dragon to bare such a name. Days and nights continued to pass, but still no visits from Neptune. At the time of her previous visit, he had known that it was to be her last. However, he lingered along the shore incase it was not.
Finally, he acknowledged that his time here had drawn to an end. All that remained was a small stirring urge deep in his chest which called him to the Fishspine Reef--the origin of all Guardians. Once there he sat and sat… and sat… waiting… for something unknown. He wondered of the creatures of who these bones belonged to, of the battles that had been fought, and of the sunken treasures and souls that littered the seafloor. Time seemed to passed slowly, and Kteatus grew restless. After taking one last look at the reef, he made his way to the shore to collect food and the few belongings he had before leaving.
While sifting through the beds of seagrass looking for mussels and urchins to keep him fed on his journey, Kteatus noticed a strange sight. An Autumn Sea Dragon, creatures that spend their lives among the sea grasses, had somehow tangled itself in a long strand of sea grass and was helplessly thrashing in an attempt to escape. With a careful flick of his claw, he cut the grasses, freeing the Sea Dragon. He then continued through the sea beds, and, to his surprise, the Sea Dragon followed. A strange feeling compelled him to grab on of his glass bottles and scoop up the Sea Dragon. He smiled at the bright creature and it seemed to smile back. He gifted it the name Molionidai, and clutched the bottle safely in his hand while he made his way back to shore. This was a sign. Of what, he did not know. Whether a message from his grandmother, or a blessing from the Tidelord, or something else completely, he was unsure. But the drive he felt to protect this strange little Sea Dragon was clear enough to tell that he had found his charge. Repurposing the string he collected from an old tattered fishing net, he created a makeshift strap with which he attached to Molionidai's bottle and then slung over his shoulder.
With thanks for the Tidelord, he left the Seas of a Thousand Currents, and followed the currents of the wind. Upon reaching the Windswept Plateau, Kteatus decided it was time to go home. But not to his old liar. Though grateful for his short period there, he knew that was not what he sought. So he wandered the plateau until finally he found it - Home. He was welcomed by Vel and Sofia, and like everyone, he was granted permission to roam where and when his heart desired. All that was asked in return was his loyalty to the liar and the dragons within it.
