Biography
Dancer
Noa learned to dance while travelling with a band of roving performers. When the troupe stopped to rest for a day with Kione’s welcoming clan, Noa wandered over to two Coatls and a Mirror who were murmuring to each-other a little distance away. She fell into conversation with them easily and was delighted to learn that the male Coatl, Huitz, was a singer and his mate the Mirror was a bard. She begged them to play for her—after many weeks with the troupe she’d heard all the songs they knew—but they were too shy and couldn't be persuaded. Though she was disappointed she accepted their reluctance and the conversation turned easily to other things. That night as the dragons settled down to sleep, Noa heard a faint melody coming from the forest. Curious, she followed it. The music receded from her as she went deeper into the woods so she knew she was being led but she wasn’t afraid. When the music stopped retreating and she entered a small, moonlit clearing her suspicions were confirmed. The mute bard and the shy singer were there in the center. Their song stuttered to an awkward halt as they became uncertain, now that they’d brought her here, what to do. “Play it again?” Noa asked softly. The Mirror and the Coatl shuffled embarrassedly for a moment and then the song started up again, soft and low. And Noa danced, soft and low. She danced fast and light. She danced whatever they played and she loved it. Eventually, the bard plucked a long last note and silence fell in the clearing. The two mates turned to each-other and their crests flicked and twitched, then Huitz turned to Noa and cleared his throat a little awkwardly. “Would you like to stay?” He asked.
