The body was left where Frostbite recovered it. No matter her strength, she was too small to move it, and one wrong push might have sent it tumbling deeper into the moulin, lost to all but the Icewarden himself. No, Frostbite pondered, once more engulfed in the deep black of the Dripcave Dregs, that would have been unwise.

She was looking for something specific, something rare. Accidents happened all the time in the caves. Hatchlings fell down into deep crevices, elderly dragons wandered into trouble, etc; even the savvy and fit sometimes found themselves horribly stuck or wounded. The cripples were the lucky ones. Most didn't survive mishaps in the caves. Frostbite carried on, nose to the ground, fitting her slinking body through jagged tunnels and over melt-slick boulders crushed into the ice.

Medics did exist in some small capacity in the deep. As with all things in the caves, their practices operated differently than surface-dwellers. Light and heat were godly to the underground. A drop of lamp-oil or an unburnt wick were thought the ultimate boons. Medics used these precious resources to "cure" their patients, though in reality light was but a conduit for the powers of the deep glaciers, that suffocating and dark god they called "Warden" and "Lord". Bent over little flames, medics raised their hands downward, whispering fervent prayers, shuddering in the presence of spirits old and wild. Sometimes, it worked.

So Frostbite continued, searching until she saw it. Distorted by meters of solid ice, there laid a glow, carrying with it the sweet scent of smoke. The faint yellow light refracted off of the tunnels' walls, casting an eerie shadow about Frostbite, who crept closer, eyes wide and owlish as she turned the corner.
