Rian
A ruler and a husband.
Rian is an ancient Irish name believed to be a diminutive form of rí (king): hence, "little king".

Long had he waited to rise to this role, though he neither cried nor smiled at his father’s passing, he was glad to be rid of the greedy dragon. Ah, if only his mother had lived longer than she did, she would be joyed to see him sitting in his late father’s place. Though he had many brothers, and sisters as well, it was him who ruled this valley of freedom.

It didn’t take long for him to choose his first mate, and he doubted he had any need for another. This fine creature could satisfy him in anyway. Oh, he had tried. She was everything a ruler could hope for in a Queen, and he was quick to snatch him so no other could. His lovely Queen, Dionne, was the only adviser he needed.

As he had stood before his people for the first time, he had felt nervous. The sound of his people’s cheers had chased that nervousness away before he could blink, and he couldn’t have been happier. They were glad to have him there! His confidence in himself had risen way over the line he had drawn as a hatchling, it sounded in his voice and stance, and even in the way he spoke to those nearest to him. He was finally king, no, the King. The King his people needed to keep them safe, and so he did.

When his wife came into picture, even before they were wedded, they had a connection. As if fated, they had crashed into each other mid-flight. Of course, without his consent the guards had forced the female into chains and sent her into the castle’s dungeon. He had of course released her as soon as he found out about this, and not three weeks later and they were about to be married to each other. And he couldn't imagine being with anyone else.
