Kotomaru

Kotomaru was born into a Clan that consisted only of Light dragons. His parents were shocked when they first saw their newborn son, his dark coloration being a heavy contrast to his element. The other clanmembers saw him as a freak, a disgrace for their "pure" Light Clan. The little Imperial was looked down upon and mistreated by his clanmates and even bullied by the other hatchlings, always asking himself what he had done wrong to deserve this. One day, their leader eventually decided to finally get rid of him and ordered his execution. But Kotomaru's parents who loved him despite everything took him to the Hewn City, knowing that their Clan avoided this place and hid him in one of the many ruins in hope that he would find a way to survive despite still being a hatchling. Little did they know that they had hid their son at an assassin's hideout who came back from a completed mission a few days later. She found the half starved hatchling that hadn't dared to leave his hiding spot and, after he told her his story, decided to take him and and make him her pupil. After a few years under her strict teaching, Kotomaru eventually bid the dragon, who not only haught him everything but also became some kind of mother figure to him, goodbye and left her place in search for his first mission as full fledged assassin. Due to some strange twist of fate, his first target should become the leader of the Clan he was born in. Not having forgotten the abuse he had to endure when he was only a hatchling the Imperial gladly accepted this mission and finished his first job with near perfection and he soon became one of the most renowned assassins of the Sunbeam Ruins' underground, gaining the title "Shadow of the Light Flight". But then, Kotomaru wasn't sure whether he was given away by someone or though a mistake of his own, his identity was revealed. Relatives and Clans of those he had assassinated previously where now after him, seeking revenge. And so he had no choice but to flee and leave the Sunbeam Ruins behind. As he was on the run, he heared rumors of a Clan located somehwere in the Scarred Wasteland that accepted dragons like him. Coming to the conclusion that he doesn't have anything to loose anymore, Kotomaru took the risks of following a false rumor and/or dying at one of the many diseases that where thriving in the Plaguebringer's dominion and made his long way to the Scarred Wasteland. Through luck, or maybe fate, he actually found Eternal Night's Hideout and got accepted by Yoru even after he told her that it is possible that they took the wrath of many Light Clans by making him one of their members.
He retired as assassin and instead devoted himself on defending the Clan's borders. A young Nocturne seemed especially interested in the stories he told about his life prior becoming a member of Eternal Night and Kotomaru eventually decided to pass his knowledge as former assassin onto her.

Kotomaru is the type of dragon that doesn't forgive or forgets. It is very hard to make him forgive someone but he also won't forget the good things one has done for him. He values efficience and always tries to find the most practial solutions, even if they might not always be the most ethical ones. Yoru sometimes reminds him of his former teacher which gives him motivation to fight for his Clan, although he often displays an "I don't want to deal with this sh*t" attitude. Others should not approach him for behind or touch him when he sleeps as it would result in him attacking you out of an old refelx that his teacher trained on him.


Although physically one of the more weaker dragons, Kotomaru can use the advantages of his assassin training in battle. He uses his stealth to surprise his enemies and knows many weak spots where even weaker hits can end fatal. His knowledge comes in handy for detecting and preventing enemy sneak attacks.
