Camille, her cat, acts as a messenger-she delivers notes from Joyce directly to other clanmates. She attends ceremonies in Joyce's stead, making diplomacy a bit of a hassle.

"Of all the strangers you're the strangest that I've seen" - Lord Huron

When Joyce hatched, there was no one there.

A Tundra's first scent is supposed to be their parents and siblings. Hers was smoke. Her nestmates had perished within their eggs, never to hatch. Her sucess at pulling through was an early testament to her resilient nature. Despite having no one to care for her, Joyce survived. Never having the chance to properly socialize in her youth, Joyce was never able to connect to the few dragons she'd come across. She was fine with being alone; after all, she'd made it this long on her own. Her only true companion was her cat, Camille.

Unusually bright for a Tundra, she insured her survival through careful trial and error, promptly recording whatever she discovered for later reference. Through her habit of research and note-taking, Joyce cultivated a deep love of science. Her fascination with the natural world grew with her. This fascination lead her to pursue the rumors of mysterious monsters and unnatural events spread amongst flights. Undiscovered sea serpents, cursed books, phantoms, strange lights in the sky-Joyce chased it all.

In her travels, she met a strange Mirror the color of ice, with what appeared to be antlers sprouting in place of his crests. Lost int the tundra, and intrigued by his apparent mutation, she accepted his offer of a warm place to stay.

Blood. Bones of countless others, others with no face or name-nothing anymore. Cold. Horrid, inescapable cold. Teeth. So many teeth.

She barely escaped with her life. As Camille clawed at the eyes of the beast, Joyce fled.
