Linh remembers her life well before she died. She remembers the snow and the cold, the friendly clan members, the fun she had with other hatchlings while growing up. Most of all she remembers her parents. She remembers her mom, her beautiful and smart mom, always experimenting, excitement on her face whenever she came back from her workplace, telling her about the things she did. Linh remembers her mother showing her, teaching her alchemy and witchcraft. She remembers laughing until it hurt and falling asleep against her warm body after a long day. She remembers her father, who loved her so, so much and called her beautiful and strong, a splitting image of her mother. She remembers laughing about his jokes and tricks, him telling her to never stop having fun, even when she grew up and to do what she loves, not caring about others opionion. She remembers being held tight by him whenever she was feeling down and his whisper of comforting words in her ears.
She also remembers vague stories about a dangerous dragon on the icefields going around in the clan and everyone laughing about it because there could be no way that that was true. Linh remembers her and friends, a group of young adult dragons, going out to have fun, without their parents and older clanmembers watchful eye. Being on their own, making it in the world, showing that they were responsible and adults. She remembers laughing so hard, having fun but deep down still missing her parents. She remembers going to sleep on their last night, kind of feeling happy that they were going home the next day. She knows she woke up because of a scream. And here her memories start fading. She only remembers pain, burning pain, screams around her and most of all she remembers red everywhere, covering snow and scales and fur.
And then her memories stop. The first thing she remembers again is opening her eyes but somewhere where there is no snow or ice to be found. Instead she lay in the sun on a bed of bright green grass where she slowly opened her eyes and began her second life.
Linh was killed by Karou, just a few hours before she was subdued but unfortunately that was already too late for Linh. She died a gruesome death she can't completely remember. When Karou was brought back to consciousness by the clan for some reason, as the last dragon she killed, Linh was brought back as well. Not fully alive, not fully dead she is a shim of who she used to be. She is stuck by the plague dragons side and can't return to the Southern Icefields.
Linh yearns for her family but is stuck in the clan. At night she leaves the forest to sit at the cliff, sometimes flying as far as she can over the sea. But whenever she gets too far away her body starts getting even more transparent and she feels extreme exhaustion.
Linh has become a story for hatchlings to tell each other late in the night at sleep overs and a dare for teenage dragons, to go into the forest at night and see if you can 'summon' her and survive.
