Biography
ELEUTHERA
High Priestess of Luminatus
|
|
Eleuthera was originally referred to as Aima, but she took on her new name (meaning freedom) once she devoted herself to her brilliant new god. She used to be a loyal worshipper of the Plaguebringer in her youth, but upon coming into conflict with her parents regarding an arranged marriage and her studies being considered ridiculous, she broke contact with them and fled from the Plague-infested lands after her brothers tried to dispose of her. It was a perilious journey across the savage Tempest desert, but she eventually found herself in Sunbeam Ruins. There she slowly picked up studying, learning about more theoretical knowledge than the practical fighting she had been used to in Plague. She survived by entering a temple of the Lightweaver and gaining help and support from the priestesses there. They fed her and provided her with ample service to start studying and later get a job at the esteemed library within the temple community. Eventually she could find herself a home on her own, friends and start living again. But this peace didn't last forever. Aima woke up one night by screams of agony and fear, she bolted outside to see a crimson infectious inferno sweeping the temple and the town around. Homes were ablaze and she was too shocked to do anything, until a bloody limb fell onto her head and she broke down. Somehow, she knew this was her fault. Plague-dragons didn't attack Light ones, as much as they disliked their priorities, their powers were weak to Light. She flew around, gathering survivors and tending to them, until she was shot by a bolt of vile Plague. Due to her born nature, she wasn't too damaged by it, but she panicked upon seeing her blood brothers and mother slaughter priestesses and bark their laughters. Everything seemed hopeless... Utterly hopeless! Aima threw herself into the fray yelling at them to target her, because she was the one they were after. With tears she told them they could kill her and bring honor to their goddess by weeding her out, but they had to promise to leave the place and never return. They accepted. But they lied. |
Beaten, infected and bleeding to death she was forced to watch them decimate the entire town. She blacked out while they were killing citizens and collecting bones to take back home. She felt helpless, hopeless and desperate enough to pray for help. She didn't think they would be answered. A triangular figure appeared before her, commenting on her dying state before telling her he had heard her words. The golden shape introduced himself as Bill Cipher, a god of another dimension, knowledge being his forte. He generously offered Aima a deal; he would save her from dying and give her a noble purpose if he received her soul in exchange. Delirious and clueless she accepted, and awoke in the chaos of a burnt plague-infested town, corpses littering the ground and magic still tense in the air. Her wounds and internal injuries had all been healed and while she offered her deepest gratitude to the being whom had saved her, she also felt a blinding rage towards her family for doing this. She wanted them to feel the same pain she and her people here had felt. To her shock, she heard a clear reply in her mind, telling her that all good things comes to those who are patient. From this day she learned that Bill could come and go in her mind and also body because of his ownership on her soul. He possessed her a few times when her energy ran out and told her of her new illuminated purpose. She was to act as his messenger, gather those willing to listen and create a following in this dimension for him. Bill told her he really wanted to find a way to free Sornieth, but he would need help. Aima took this seriously and started preaching his chosen words to those who would listen. She took on a new name, as she felt born anew after being so close to death. The light of her new god had resurrected and freed her. Eleuthera. Her first recruit was a young Skydancer she found on the verge of death. She nursed her back to health and told her of the miracles she could perform because of her divine lord. It didn't take long before Psychedelica got her new name and was entranced by the incredible things she had now learned. She vowed to dedicate her life and loyalty to her and their god. Together with Ayahuasca, Palinopsia and Hypnagogia the two built the underground base that now serves as a home and place of worship for the Cipher cult. Eleuthera named her group Luminatus and appointed herself high priestess as she could request direct contact with their god. She continues to save desperate dragons and those plunged in despair, bringing them into her family. But now her services always require a steep price and those who can't pay might just end up on the alter drained of blood. Eleuthera now rules strictly while her smile remains kind and inviting, as much as she is herself, Cipher's influence has changed her and she is instantly able to see the otherwordly trails the Celestial Nymphs leave in their wake. But she has a plan, Bill wants them out of the way, so she will get them out of the way. Her sly scheme is unfolding and while order is her calling, she is sold to chaos since way back. If you look close, you might even see a glimpse of golden blending into her red eyes while round pupils sharpen into predatory slits. |
