Darren

The Ashfall Wastes could never hold Darren's attention, even as a youngster. The ever shifting coast of the Blacksand Annex farther inland intrigued him, but the clan he hatched into was small, and situated within the relatively stable Emberglow Hearth. Once grown, he set out for the Annex, determined to find something in the place of his origin that could help anchor him.

The twisting lava flow of the Molten Scar and all the noise of its great collisions and explosions managed to hold his attention for only a moment. While the land spewed forth metals to be eagerly grabbed by forgers and smiths, his imagination began to turn out stories. They were wild stories, only told to himself, and often changed from cautionary tales of those who worked mining the turbulent land. When the Scar stopped providing new materials for his muse, but kept spewing out more lumps of precious metals, he decided it was time to move on. Though this part of his homeland had not been able to hold his interest, perhaps the Annex still could.

When he finally reached the coast, the great mists from the lava flow enveloped him, and the shifting landscape, so carefully crafted by those clans hoping to stake their claim, kept his thoughts from growing stagnant. Every new shadow could be a beast, every geyser and rush of steam could be the call of a massive, unknown creature. The great desire to craft stories overtook him again, but in this part of the land, they took a new turn. Frightening and sometimes monstrous, Darren took to sharing his tales with the clans he met in exchange for temporary shelter. Though charming in his own right, and never unduly violent to those he met, his stories sometimes made it difficult to stay in one place too long, before the clans there wanted him gone.

With his imagination eager for more material, and his welcome beginning to wear thin, Darren flew out of his homeland without a second thought, hardly caring that even the great Annex he had once dreamed of now lay behind him. It was not long into his quest for new adventures, for new ideas for stories, that he stumbled across a floating island.

Clan Rush was not bothered by his unorthodox appearance in their midst, (a tale involving the manipulation of shadow and the thought that the islands inhabitants could have been beastmen) and welcomed him to stay with them. The great island served as a backdrop for many of his stories, though he frequently took the boldest of his new clanmates away from home to seek new things to be crafted into wild tales for his telling.

Though not all of the stories he crafts take on a frightening edge, Clan Rush was not bothered by his more spooky side. The whole clan makes a habit of gathering every week to listen to him, and the tales he has crafts.
