Biography

Kelasteal and Morishka are lifebonded mates. They will breed with the males of their clan to produce eggs, but their true love is for each other. Each wears a ring with a stone that reminds them of the beauty of their mates' plumage.

Kelasteal is the tougher of the pair, aggressive and eager to fight alongside her Mistress, and has no use for displays of affection. Despite this, she has many pet names for Morishka, such as "Morning Light" and "Sunrise" and "Dawn of my Life". These names are usually spoken in hushed, passionate whispers to her mate before she leaves for battle, accompanying promises of her return.
Kelasteal met Morishka during a raid Deathstryke was leading. They had received word that a rival clan had attacked one of the villages, destroying most of the lairs and taking many dragons prisoner. During the attack, Kelasteal found the prisoners and set them free. As the villagers fled, she saw a white Skydancer with wings to match the dawn get struck down by an enemy. As she crumpled to the ground, Kelasteal launched herself at the assailant, intending to protect the injured female. She dispatched the would-be killer quickly, and turned to see the girl looking up at her in terror. She was clearly not used to witnessing such tremendous violence, and now here she was right in the thick of it. With more enemies beginning to close in around them, Kelasteal pulled the female into her arms and carried her away from the fighting. She found a hidden spot and tucked her away there, saying "You're injured. Stay here, and I'll come back for you,". She went off to continue her bloody work, fighting her way back to her Mistress and helping drive the rivals out of the village.

As promised, she returned to the spot where she had left the girl, and found her still trembling from shock and pain. Wordlessly, she began to treat and dress her wounds. As she finished binding one of the girl's legs, she introduced herself as she began to work on her wing. Finally seeming to relax a bit, the female replied hesitantly, "I'm...Morishka. Thank you for saving me," Kelasteal insisted that she was just doing what any good dragon would have done, and took one of Morishka's hands in hers, giving it a reassuring squeeze. As she moved to take her hand back and place another bandage, Morishka instead squeezed back, and used her other hand to gently run a claw through Kelasteal's crest. "You've got some blood in your feathers," she explained, grooming the spot gently. Kelasteal's eyes widened and her heart quickened. The adrenaline from fighting had started to leave her system, but Morishka's touch brought it flooding back. As she allowed herself to be preened by this stranger, she noticed how very beautiful Morishka was. Strange, she thought, that she had never really thought that about anyone before. Perhaps it was the relief of winning a battle and living another day that was making her feel this way. But, she thought, what if it's more than that?
Kelasteal invited Morishka home with her when Morishka revealed that she had nowhere else to go in the aftermath of her village's destruction. It took a long time for them to realize their feelings for each other, and even longer to act on them. Neither of them was sure how the other one might have felt upon learning that a female was falling for them. They spent lots of time in each others' company and became best friends. Eventually, Kelasteal took a shot of courage and confessed to Morishka that she was intensely attracted to her, but was afraid to act on it because she didn't know how Morishka felt about her, and that it would be weird because she had saved her life once before, and that she wasn't sure if she should even be doing this, but that she had wanted to tell her this for a long time, and that she didn't want to ruin their friendship, and...

Morishka silenced her ramblings with a kiss.
