Biography

Something stalks the swamp these days. Well, things have always stalked the swamp, but this does it with a bit more supernatural panache. It's not malevolent, as far as anyone can tell ("the roads have been a lot safer lately," folks whisper. "a lot less howling late at night.") but most everyone would rest a lot easier in their beds if they knew what in the Eights' names it was.
It's big, that's for certain. Creeping jenny and old man's beard coat its shaggy hide like a blanket. It shows up only at night, and vanishes into the undergrowth as soon as you lay eyes on it. Some who don't know better say it's a boar or an escaped toridae, but the few who have caught a glimpse of the hulking, snuffling creature through the trees know deep in their belly that it's something else entirely. Something a little less easy to explain.

Of course, residents of Sornieth are well used to unexplained occurences, and have learned that generally speaking it's better to keep your nose out of other people's business.

Tangleweed spends her days as a trapper and occasional guide. Her powerful sniffer and her natural-born talent of navigating even the gnarliest of wetlands give her business a distinct edge, and she often finds herself working in the company of Muskeg's other woodsmen; namely Osto, kindred spirit and fellow immigrant from the Scarred Wasteland. When off work they spend nearly all their time together, in that particular kind of silence large stoic souls with gruff voices always seem to cultivate. Their size and stature are enough to discourage most people from bothering them. They like it that way. The fewer bothersome questions, the better.

The wetlands here are smaller (and tamer, in a lot of ways) than those she grew up, but she's noticed they're just as labyrinthine. Something in the air creeps into your head and rattles your sense of direction. Once you've been there long enough you find you know exactly where the heart of the swamp is at any time, but trying to think about anywhere else just... doesn't work. It's unnerving, but somehow it doesn't feel wrong. This place will keep her safe, and that's all she could ever ask for. She does what she can to return the favor.
