Ryder's life hasn't always been easy. His early years were just like the other hatchlings and it wasn't until he started showing interest in his favourite hobby that he started to get bullied.

Born in a clutch of 3 and to Bogsneak parents he was the youngest of the hatchlings. He was smothered with affection from many different dragons and seen as the baby of the clan for many years. Ryder didn't mind the attention too much as he grew accustomed to it from an early age but still resented the fact that he was the centre of attention and always coddled...

As he started learning about the world and the infinite amount of things a dragon could do Ryder started to show a huge interest in art. He loved to let loose his creative side and create little doodles in his free time. His parents, however, were children of war and disapproved of this hobby often banning him from picking up a paintbrush and instead pushing him to become more like his siblings - powerful warriors.

Ryder tried to get out of battle training whenever he could and often had a lot of arguments with his parents and other clan members. The children that used to be his friends decided to bully him saying he was a coward and would often push him around and throw stuff at him. He would often hide in one of his many hideouts when his parents would come looking for him and he would usually stay there for the rest of the day in fear of being punished later on.

Eventually the entire clan got tired of his presence and, while everyone was out on a hunting party, they split off in different directions and made sure Ryder got lost to the point where he couldn't find his clan anymore.

Trying to find his clan he accidently ended up wandering into the cold embrace of The Southern Icefield...

Desperate, cold, scared, and alone Ryder grew increasingly worried about being out in the open by himself. After wandering around aimlessly for a whole day he rested by a dead tree and cried until he had no more tears left. This was when his anxiety blossomed and caused Ryder to have many panic attacks during his time alone.

After a week of endless torture Ryder found himself starving and having no skills to hunt. He hated hurting anything and often refrained from taking part in hunting parties, thus, didn't have the skills to hunt for himself. Every time he got close to a potential meal the prey would outmanoeuvre him often making Ryder skid and fall flat on his face... his vibrant scales didn't help with blending into the environment either...

Another 2 weeks passed and his panic attacks grew stronger and lasted longer. He was starving - only living off the small amount of vegetation that was available - and was losing hope fast! He managed to wander through to the cold tundra where food had become even more scarce and the cold was hitting his fragile state hard!

He couldn't take it anymore...

Ryder collapsed from exhaustion, his body too weak to continue. He had given up now. Ryder lay unconscious in the snow just waiting for his demise not expecting anyone to help... until a strange dragon spotted something vibrant in the snow...

The strange dragon cautiously trotted over to the unconscious Ryder and pulled him through the snow until they reached the large (and unusual) clan. The other dragons rushed to the strange dragon's side and helped carry Ryder through to the dragon that could help him the most - Raine.

Raine was able to help any external wounds Ryder had received during his 3 weeks of going alone and kept him hydrated and warm but she was unable to do much more. All they could do was wait until he woke up.

2 more days passed and Ryder started stirring. His head was pounding, his stomach growling, and his eyesight was blurry. As Ryder looked around the massive cave he was currently residing in he noticed a strangely dressed Wildclaw about half his size sitting next to him. The Wildclaw saw that he was now awake and took off her strange headdress.

"Ah, you're awake! Thank the Icewarden," the strange Wildclaw said and clapped her hands together. Ryder took a good look at her and took in her appearance - dark scales, greyscale feathers, silver runic horns, and the reddest eyes he had ever seen.

Ryder coughed slightly from a dry throat and steadied himself. "Where am I exactly?"

"You're in the cave of my clan, more specifically in Raine's area of the cave - she's an alchemist!"

Ryder was confused. Every Wildclaw he had ever met was always gloomy and cared for nothing more than ripping the throats out of others yet the one that sat beside him was... gleeful and excited but looked to be struggling with talking to him.

"Oh, excuse my rudeness... I'm Moonlight . And you are?"

"Ryder." He coughed again.

Moonlight noticed his discomfort and brought over a bowl of water for him to drink from. She placed it beside him and he lapped it up quickly.

"So what brings you out to this desolate land?" Moonlight asked.

"I was... searching for a new place to stay..." Ryder replied trying to avoid the question.

Moonlight eyed him. She knew when someone was lying, or at least, trying to keep some words unsaid. She understood, however, and decided not to pry.

"You must have been out there for a while if this is the condition that you're in..." she paused to put a paw on his shoulder, "Frost, our leader, said you can stay for as long as you need." With that the Wildclaw stood up and started walking out to give Ryder some space.

Ryder caught her tail in an attempt to stop her and bashfully looked at her. "Sorry... but you were the one to help me right? When I collapsed in the snow?"

Moonlight turned and gave him a questioning look. "How would you know that?"

"I kinda faded in and out of reality back there... I remember seeing a dark figure with a bird skull..."

"Yeah, it was me. Now you should rest and recover."

Ryder nodded and got settled back down to rest some more. He laid his head on his paws and stared and the Wildclaw exiting the cave. He whispered a quick "thank you" before closing his eyes.

Moonlight, having very sensitive hearing heard him and smiled at the thanks. She was never one to make new friends but she was glad to have found this vibrant Guardian.
