Born deep within the Hewn City, this child grew up hidden away from the world and with their father's curse. The parents, a Shade-touched jewelry maker and a former paladin, did everything they could to instill a sense of independence and strength within their children. The world is cold and cruel, and they would need to be able to fight to find their place within it.

Aranthes grew up with an insatiable curiosity that often led to her wandering far from her hidden home. The few dragons she encountered within the Hewn City were kind to the bubbly child. Before they knew it, they would give her money and blankets and food, which she would slip off home with. No one questioned their actions, not till far from where they'd found the strange girl.

Shade-infected and somewhat proud of it, Aranthes has grown up strengthening her abilities and turning them into something that can work for her. She is able to warp a person's intentions, often influencing others into doing what she wished. Through her Shade abilities, she takes their money, their clothes, their jewelry, and has little to no remorse about it. When one is born in the wilds such as she was, one must learn to survive however possible.

When she left home, she was gifted her father's gold and obsidian necklace, to remind her of her family. She wears it about her neck at all times, and will not hesitate to remove fingers that reach for it.
