The winter solstice is heralded on the colony with a similar custom to the standard traditions of wishgiving, passed on through cross pollination, gene flow and oral tradition originating beyond the mountains among the windswept plateau proper and Sornieth wide. The colony practices a charitable derivative of the tradition, called almsgiving for its large emphasis on relief support and healthcare that is of critical importance to the ultra orthodox believers among the mountains and prioritised as a necessity over the so-called "whims and indulgences of heathen holidays".

Another tradition that has preserved on the remnants by the old surviving members of the original culture supplanted by the colony, is the distinctively wind flight ritual of lanterns. Due to scarcity of resources and impoverished conditions for the common dragon, this ritual is reduced to watching rather than the launching of lanterns onto the nocturne darkened skies of the Night. Recently, there has been an observed uptick of stray lanterns flying into the intense high force winds of the vale horizon, uncharacteristic for lanterns of soft canvas and silk; almost as if they have become animated by witchcraft or somesuch hedonist magic. The lanterns, however, are historically seen as a threat of invasion at worst and " poisonous propaganda" from "Ætherian hedonists" at best by the Archons of Lux and their fellowship providing relief and healing to the blighted land.

With the immense exception of the sacred duty of almsgiving and the healers work and menders craft it entails, Yule Solstice is regarded as heresy with the taint of the Shade's unholiness masquerading as shadow and ice "pawn" flight traditions and festivities, obscuring the purpose of holy days with their "trivial frivolities and mindless gratification".
