Biography
■
fen hunter | ■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■ |
Every clan needs its hunters. For every dragon weaving silk or glazing pottery, another is foraging for fungi or chasing creatures through the world, following the hot blood until the end. Fen has always been such a dragon, with the instincts of a Mirror ground deep into his veins, even after leaving such a shape behind. He has had to shift his instincts to a more cunning outlet to make up for lost speed, but his thirst is the same as it was so long ago when he used to haunt the Windswept Plateau. He was fearsome there, something of a ghost in the hills, always ready to strike when least expected. Though he never harmed other dragons, his ferocity was of such renown that he was feared all the same. What if he mistook a dragon for prey? What if he changed his mind and started to hunt his own?
Caught in the midst of speculation, Fen was shunned from the world around him, forced into an informal sort of exile that at first suited him fine. It gave him the freedom to hunt on his terms for his needs alone, and he could choose his hours of operation, which typically leaned towards the nocturnal. It was an ideal existence, running the length of the Plateau under his terms alone. Nothing in the world could be freer.
But then it got lonely and colder, and Fen got reckless. With no one to hold him back, he took greater risks, challenging bigger and nastier beasts, ones he could never finish all on his own. His gambling caught up to him sooner than later, and when he finally challenged a massive stag, it gored him on its antlers and threw him off to the side to die. He never stood a chance against the cornered beast, and he died in the undergrowth, a victim of his own lonesome ambition.
Sornieth's magic must have had sympathy for him, though, because somehow, he awoke in a different wood, heart beating once again. And not only could he feel his heart, but also the hearts of the creatures around him, all at once. This newfound ability led him to the heart of Nyx Coven, and since every clan needs a hunter, he was accepted in their fold right away. Now, his reckless nature has not quite been tempered, but he is a better hunter, attuned to the hearts of the woods and the beasts they belong to. It will be a long while before he ventures to take on anything greater than what he can handle again.
