Biography

A slamming on your door causes you to jump, almost feet into the air. None of your friends ever knocked that loud, even the biggest Imperials make themselves known by a simple, respectful rap on the door. So who could this even be? Your curiosity piqued, you flap to the door, and peer through the mail slot, your eyes are greeted with an assaultingly vivid orange. No one you know, but it could be important. The door swings open to reveal a fat, male Snapper.
 You wonder if you've ever seen someone so bright before. He is by far the most strangely dressed visitor you've had yet. You somehow manage to refrain from clapping your talons over your eyes, so to avoid offending him. Inexplicably, he manages to look dead serious through the (most probably fake) facial hair that adorns his snout. To his left is an Imperial.  A female, with yet brighter and more burning colors of pink and cyan and bright purple. She gives you a patient smile. You turn back to the Snapper. With a large grin, he bellows: "I'm Pumpkin! And this is 'Barb! We hear a dragon is celebrating their hatchday today!" Who sent you? Says your mind. "Yes, that's me." Says your mouth. "We've come to wish you a happy, happy hatchday!" trilled Rhubarb is a voice much higher than you had anticipated. She holds out a few boxes, tied with ribbons. There is a very long moment of silence as you and Rhubarb watch Pumpkin wrestle with the Brass Cornet tied to his sash, trying to get it into his mouth. Without fingers, and without real lips, you observe that it is possibly the last instrument a Snapper should learn to play, but he manages. Rhubarb began to sing. "Happy Hatchday to you, from far lands we flew, to give you these presents, and to sing to you too! Happy Hatchday to you, Happy Hatchday to you, Happy Hatchday dear Happy Hatchday to you!" Pumpkin tooted his cornet along to the song, the notes were all wrong, but you couldn't help admiring his effort. A smile breaks across your face, and you watch Rhubarb carefully lay five present boxes on the porch in front of you. "We have other things we have to tend to, but we wish you the most joyful day!" She sang. "Hatchdays only come once a year! Make sure you have a good one!" Cried Pumpkin. And with that, Rhubarb grabbed Pumpkin by the sides, and lifted off, carrying the flightless dragon with her. The two waved goodbye, and disappeared behind a line of trees. You gather your presents and carry them into the lair to unwrap, wondering what could be inside. |
