Biography
Whimsical. Resourceful. Opportunist.
"Youth does not beget immaturity, nor does age guarantee wisdom."
Fitting the pattern of the other Four, Karliah is an independent, clever she-dragon inclined to thievery with as much enthusiasm as the others. What sets her apart, however, is more than just her age (she being the youngest of the group, something she is loathe to bring up but will defend in the event that it is.). Karliah is an extremely adept magic user with a preference for involving the environment and the terrain into her heisting, her Ice Flight heritage allows for a little more durability and caution than the average dragon. One has to be very careful not to slip (and possibly break something, whether yourself or an object), when one lives in the Southern Icefield!
Karliah was an orphan, same as Brynjolf, and was known by another breed than what she is currently (formerly a skydancer); she also had the privilege of being one of the few who can say she has been taken in and tutored by the Master of Thieves himself. Another major milestone of Karliah's life, is when she met Gallus for the first time; Brynjolf's second in command, she was immediately rather taken with this 'mysterious young thief' and his shadowy behavior. Very much like an artifact she would've pilfered if she had the chance, Gallus was a holder of secrets and a deep thinker, two things she could admire and respect in another dragon. It took her a while to lower his guard, but like any good thief, once she got past the tricky part, she eventually found what she was looking for. They've been inseparable ever since.
Though she showed something of a silly streak growing up, with her youth has come a maturity even most older dragons have trouble disputing; but that doesn't mean she cannot still enjoy a bit of fun every now and again. She has remained positive and clear-headed, playing her part as Brynjolf and Company gradually improved their standings; she can now enjoy the luxury of having a Guild, a place to call home and of having food on the table whenever she has need of it.
Things were not always so easy, but Karliah prefers not to dwell upon her own past, but instead the 'proof', the history of others'. Fossils and artifacts are her signature, enjoying these relics and remnants of times gone by, particularly anything that is evidence of the Second Age. Humans are such a bizarre, yet fascinating subject, after all. Her most prized artifacts are a piece of the Pillar of the World and the birdskull necklace that was given to her by Gallus (it is enchanted with a protective rune) that she wears for good luck.
Her resourcefulness and problem-solving capabilities make her an excellent aid for Gallus, who enjoys deciphering old texts and tablets; she enjoys helping out her mate in any way that she can, which also includes pulling him away from his work so that he might get a bit of fresh air from time to time.
Karliah still retains something of a master/apprentice relationship with Brynjolf, and has a sibling-like bond with Vex and Delvin.
