“Let those who wish have their respectability- I wanted freedom, freedom to indulge in whatever caprice struck my fancy, freedom to search in the farthermost corners of the earth for the beautiful, the joyous, and the romantic.” ? Richard Halliburton

For all the years that he'd lived, Iskemu was an explorer. From exploring the cracks and crags of the cave in which he was born to roaming the outside world at its best and its worst, he was more or less born into it. It was his hobby, his passion, to discover the undiscovered and see what greater things lie just beyond what the eye can see.

Other than his peculiar desire to travel the world over, he was a typical hatchling. He played games with his siblings, ate ravenously at mealtimes, and aspired to have his own clan one day, as most young dragons do.
One event stands out in his youth more than any other. At a young age, unsurprisingly whilst scouting out the dense woodland that surrounded his childhood home, he found another dragon. One just like himself, except... Wrong. There was something distinctly unsettling about the dragon that he'd found. It wasn't the empty look in its eyes or its inability to speak, but the writhing mass of black markings that covered most of its body that sent shivers down Iskemu's spine, although he could not explain why. But, as the courageous trailblazer he esteemed himself to be, he didn't run.

Such a decision found himself a new friend, for the newcomer wasn't hostile, more scared than anything else. Most of all, they seemed alone. A dragon this young shouldn't be out fending for themselves.
After a few days of scurrying off to meet with the dragon, Nightfire, he was called, Iskemu tried to bring him to his home, for Nightfire did not seem to have his own.
However, instead of his parents being welcoming of a poor soul, Iskemu was unpleasantly surprised to find their first reactions that of horror. They shunned Nightfire away, scared him far off into the forest. With anger and tears, Iskemu begged that they tell him why, what had Nightfire done wrong?
They solemnly warned of terrible things that could dwell within dragons, of creatures and spirits vile and malicious, that such things grasp at the lives of the weak and unwitting and steal them away. Whatever Nightfire had been, he was not anymore, and that seething mass of black upon their skin acted as a mark to all others, to avoid them at all costs.
Lastly, they forbade him from ever going near that cursed soul again.

Iskemu didn't understand. He couldn't. Nightfire hadn't seemed so bad, sure he was odd and showed little emotion, but he'd been friendly enough.
So it was that the next day Iskemu set off exploring in search of him again, for not even the look of true worry on his mother's face could warn him away, though it unnerved him deeply.
He did find Nightfire again, and as the days passed by he thought little of his parents warnings. Besides, Nightfire was far happier in his presence.

This cycle of of Iskemu scurrying off to meet with Nightfire carried on for years, Iskemu making sure to never let his parents know.
One day he suggested to Nightfire that they make their own clan. A sanctuary for those cast away by others, forgotten and alone. Nightfire couldn't help but agree.

So it stands that Nightfire and Iskemu lead over their own group of dragons, happy to take in any who are willing.

Iskemu had always been blessed with a kind heart and adventurous soul. He found exploring dragons as interesting as exploring the world (with him exploring Nightfire in great detail hint hint wink wink).

...

Iskemu never really considers the 'why' in why people are exiled.
For what it's worth, most lost souls are lost for a reason
A lot of the time, there's a very good reason for it.

Nor does Iskemu question the fear behind corruption.

It's not without cause.
