 B I O G R A P H Y
He only ever wanted a family of his own. Which explains why, when one of his hatchlings is called to the Lightweaver’s side, he cracks. He becomes a recluse living at the edge of the clan, though he is still highly respected by the others. Some of that may partially be his occupation as the caretaker of the Nests. Another part of their respect is earned by his polite demeanor. Even though many believe that he would rather spend his days with just his immediate family, he does not turn anyone away if they wish to speak to him. He is well known for giving advice, and his quiet, calming presence is a pleasant change of pace for many. (He never does admit to anyone that he welcomes these visits, as a reminder that he is not alone. He is well-aware that his self-isolation did not help with the abject loneliness, but after one or two visits into the cluster of homes at the centre of their Lair, the return back to his near silent home is rather welcomed.) His family, he is surprised to find, grows in size by the day. His Mate, Ruza, is an energetic sort, and she brings a light into his life that he is constantly in awe of. The two Hatchlings he manages to raise grow into fine Dragons as well. His son, Mefus, assists him with the upkeep of the nests, and also deals with the adoption cases for those who cannot or do not want to mate. Cadenza, on the other hand, inherited her mother’s brightness and energy, and throws herself into her ambassadorial work. She almost gave Machlud a heart attack when she brought home Rolfe, the Gladiator. Rolfe’s brother, Eddie, made Machlud’s extended family larger through his relationship with Lilla, whose father was part of possibly the most unorthodox relationship Machlud had ever heard of. (Four Dragons? And none of them were Lilla’s mother!) It stuns him to consider it, but he had firmly achieved his dreams of a family now. With Cadenza’s own Hatchlings growing into their own, Machlud contents himself with surrounding himself with others.
