Keeps tense situations from escalating

Silver-tongued and level-headed, Halloween is a born diplomant. She is always ready to de-escalate a situation or correct any misunderstandings, mostly during encounters with the Beastclans. She takes pride in her high success rate; not perfect, but close to the point where she doesn't mind.

During the Tempest Trial where all young Lighting dragons go, Halloween felt very out of her depth. She loved the machinery and the never-ending inventions, but it was just something she could not wrap her head around. It wasn't until she broke up a fight and helped resolve the situation that she realized what she was skilled in. But even as she figured this out, she met another roadblock: the Lightning flight is largely cooperative. It has to be if it is to meet deadlines set out by the Stormcatcher. While there are occasional conflicts, there are just that; occasional. At the end of the Trial, while she and her sisters were traveling home, she remembered the Beastclans.

Now, Halloween knows as much about the nearby Beastclans as possible. It may not be much, but with every interaction she learns a little bit more, no matter how the interaction itself turns out. Over the years of these constant interactions with the local longnecks and harpies, Mercer has had to revise her approach. One particular flash flood in a nearby canyon left a resident harpy clan in disarray, as much of their home was under threat of being washed away. A few of the Borderguard did not hesitate to step in and help, with more following their example. That incident brought about a shift in relations that Mercer pounced on, as she does, to bring into fruition. Now, several local harpy clans often go to the Borderguard for help, and vice versa. The longnecks are still a bit wary, but Mercer keeps the line of communication open in case they change their minds.
