Biography

QXC4eOb.png
Art by Yuukiji

A powerful sorceress who delights in transforming those who cross her into various frogs and snakes. She is rarely able to change them back. She is considered very dangerous by the clan, but she has saved them from incursions by other clans before, and is therefore treated with care and respect.

The transformed creatures, including a few dragons, retain varying degrees of personality. Some have completely lost their memories of their previous lives. Others hold a burning hatred for Lea but are unable to act upon it because, well, they’re frogs. One, an amphithere named Ammy, has come to forgive her because her transformation was an accident and Lea has treated her and her kin kindly over the years.

Lea herself is generally pleasant, serving woodsy teas and treats to polite visitors, but loves to make idle threats to scare other dragons. Even impolite visitors usually get an earnest warning, but if Lea decides you need a permanent lesson in manners, you will be sporting slime or scales before you even know what’s happened. Her opinion of what constitutes rudeness can be hard to decipher as well, since her tone of voice rarely strays from that of a polite, slightly senile old lady.

Physically, Lea is old and quite frail, but her flesh still appears youthful, due in part to the medicinal properties of her frogs and her teas. She responds to injury, first, by neutralizing whatever injured her, be it by blasting it into a fine powder or smoke or transforming it into her latest pet, and second, by finding a safe place to slip into a deep, trance-like sleep. While in this state her spirit leaves her body and casts spells on it to restore the injured areas, allowing her to recover from normally mortal wounds and even cheat death.

She doesn’t keep track of how old she is, but can recall to visitors events known to have occurred before the birth of the Arcanist. In her younger days, she was a great traveller, but has not left the Tangled Wood in centuries.
