Poison Darts
94cL8JL.png

The “Poison Darts” (so called for their resemblance to poison dart frogs) were first hatched in the loamy sands of the Tsunami Flats. Their amphibious skin secretes a deadly toxin that wards off the much larger beasties that roam the waves, trenches, and reefs. Their unique coloration allows them to blend in with their surroundings.

Mirrors, originally accustomed to high-speed chases on land, are normally viewed as ill adapted for hunting in the water. The "Poison Darts" have overcome this obstacle with a combination of overwhelming numbers and superior camouflage. Their bodies blend in with various shades of coral that grows on the huge bones in Fishspine reef. Their wings and underbellies decide their spot in the pack. Darts with darker wings and underbellies dive deep and hide themselves in the dark waters. Those with lighter wings cling to the higher parts of the reef. Mirrors with lighter underbellies and wings float near the surf, hiding in the foamy spray. The swarm will wait patiently until a school of fish swims in-between the hiding dragons. Then they spring from every direction, overwhelming their prey. Occasionally they will hunt larger prey, such as Delphin, in much the same method.
