But he was never happy as a coatl, because he couldn't understand other breeds. He was trying his best to learn, however, he was still incapable of understanding faes- and one of the clan leaders was a fae. This bothered him so much, in fact, that he travelled to the auction house and spent all of his gems on a Breed Change scroll, a very powerful kind of magic. His parents certainly didn't approve of this, as then, they wouldn't be able to understand their own son. But he did it anyway, and transformed himself into the breed he is now, a guardian. He was thrilled to be able to understand other breeds, and his clanmates rejoiced that he could communicate with them. However... then came the Search. He hadn't considered this fact when he chose guardian to be his new breed, but the instinct came soon enough- the instinct to find a Charge. And so, he did. He left his home and said farewell, and eventually travelled into the Starfall Isles, where he found his new Charge (it made him smile that this clan's leader, Mavis, is a fae). He settled into the lair, and the next day came Iolite. You could say it was fate that Kyanite had chose that guardian breed change scroll, because if he had chosen another breed, he would've never met Iolite, his one true love.
