Personality

Sakari has always been an incredibly curious dragon. From as long as she can remember, she has wanted to know as much as possible about the world around her. From a young age, she has been obsessed with the night. She had always preferred if to day, preferred the cool silence of the stars to the hot chatter of a bright sun. Despite this, she remained open and friendly, a loyal friend to have around in any situation ; unlike some of her clan mates, who had become lost in the night. Sakari is known to have a joking streak in her, sometimes even known to mimick th cry of others for pranks and her own pleasure. She is also an incredibly sociable dragon and can get along with everyone she meets, and as they get to know her, they will be willing to depend on her more and more. Sakari can recall a lot from her hatchlinghood, and is known to spend some time mulling over the events of her past. She can always look upon these memories fondly as they were a happy time in her life. Certain memories sticks out to her more than others, such as the day she had learned to fly. She recalls standing before her parents, siblings by her sides. They had shown her the ways to tilt her wings to ensure the breeze didn't carry her off, had shown her how to stretch and clench her neck muscles to help with balance. She had watched all of this with wonder, her eyes following the erratic patterns almost as if finely tuned into it. Her scales had quivered as they had taught her the evasive manoeuvres required to control herself should she ever ride a storm. Sakari took in every detail, storing it in a deep vault at the centre of her mind. For weeks after that, she barely landed. She had stayed in the air honing her skills, perfecting her natural talent. She learned quicker, more efficiently than her siblings. She would become a master in no time at all. This particular memory is always near the surface of her mind. The Nocturne relives the joy of it as often as she can. Every time she feels a breeze, or flaps her wings, she is greeted by the familiar warm filing of her first flight. Sakari is also a very willing to help dragon. When her siblings would struggle learning a new flight movement, she would be the one to step in and show them how to do it, sometimes even lifting off of the ground to give her own mini demonstration. The Nocturne became more competitive as she grew, became more interested in competing than instructing. She could be impatient at times, a trait that mirrored that of the storms she was so drawn to. She was impatient to fly, impatient to get up from her sleeping position and travel through the storms, yet shone would soon fall into a sleep, dreaming of the excitement that would face her that night.

Backstory

Sakari was born in the Lightning Flight. Her clan was only ever active after the sun went down, to chase the storms. From the second she hatched from her egg, she was taken by the strange pull of the dark clouds above her nest. The curious Nocturne spent her first few days of life dreaming of chasing those storms with her clan, of racing through the lightning, becoming one with the sky. When her wings had finally formed, she was more than ready to fly. A day of teaching was the only guidance she needed before she took off for the first time, straight into a dark bank of angry looking clouds. She was fearless, oblivious to the dangers involved in StormChasing. On that first flight, she hadn't been properly prepared. In the dead of night, when the rest of her clan had been stirring from a long daylight sleep, she had already been in the sky. The huge metal poles that dotted the StormCatchers territory seemed to call the Lightning from its cloud home, sending the searing arcs bounding towards the earth like great dogs. Sakari had watched this her entire life, watched the blinding streaks race across the sky, marvelled at the manoeuvrability of her clan mates as they pounded after the storm. Every night had seemed like a dream, a way to see her goals. The forks of lightning had lulled her closer, had even turned her egg towards the sky. Now, she was finally there. Sakari flicked her wings, dodging around a sharp jolt of lightning as she finally reached the clouds. Her wings felt like arrows, piercing through the tense air with ease. She was quickly nearing the Eye of the Storm. A few scattered shapes darted past, her clan, now joining her in this chase. Suddenly, the clouds seemed to swirl around her, rather than in random surges left and right. It was as if she was spinning in a circle, with everything slightly blurred and rotating around her. The last thing she had expected was a flash of pain, flying through her scales like a flame. It had stunned her, causing the Nocturne to fall from the sky, landing in a pile of sparse foliage in a crumpled heap. Bright white ice lines had appeared across her scales, marking them like scars. She remembers the buzzing feeling that had zapped along them, how at first she had thought they were lightning bolts inside of her. Although, as she soon realised, they were marks from where the bolt had struck her, a permanent reminder of why not to fly in the heart of a storm. They pulsed with energy, making them glow in the gloom. As Sakari spread her shivering wings, she felt a twinge of hesitation, something she had never before experienced when readying to fly. She had shook her head, and lifted off, disappearing back into the ash grey clouds.

As she grew, Sakari felt more and more drawn to travel. The scars on her scales had made hunting in the night near impossible, as every other Nocturnal creature could see the pulsating glow radiating from her. Her clanmates had jeered and made fun of these markings, almost as though they were the Nocturnes own fault. She had began to believe their insults, if she hadn't been so reckless, so ignorant, maybe she would be the perfect night hunter. The insult had, however, died down after a week or so, leaving Sakari to her own business. She had found that the faster she was in the air, the less chance that prey oils spot her as she dove down towards them, claws outstretched. One thing that she particularly enjoyed doing on these hunts was mimicking the cries of the beastclan creatures she could hear around her. There would always be an answering call, which she would then adapt to her game, changing the tone and pitch to make her seem like another member of its tribe. This trick also proved useful with dragons. During the regular Chases Sakari would sometimes hear the call of an Imperial or Guradian, both easily distinguishable by the deep, guttural sound they made. She would repeat the call to find someone to help it, mimicking the pace they spoke at almost exactly, a near perfect representation. This skill only grew as she did, becoming more realistic the more she practised. Her favourite part of this 'power' was pranking her clanmates. The intimidating roars of Guardians and Imperials proved difficult for her to mimic and took months for her to perfect. Eventually, after much practice, she was finally able to do what she had planned. There were always many hatchling in her clan, and a lot of places to hide in while they rushed past at night. The Nocturne would hide herself expertly behind a cave wall or metal structure and listen for the tell-tale clatter of a young dragons claws. When she heard one, Sakari would roar as loud as she could, mimicking the vicious sound of an angry Imperial. The sound of the hatchlings squealing in terror as they turned tail and stumbled away had the Nocturne laughing for hours. Despite all of these good times and happy memories, Sakari wished to find another clan. A clan where she was not known as the dragon who was unable to hunt efficiently due to her own foolish mistake. Another flight sounded good to her as well, a chance to experience another way of life, another way of doing things . The more she thought about it, the better her plan seemed. She was particularly drawn to the Water Flight. The thought of the cool, fresh waters made her want to leave straight away. So, when she was at last ready to leave, the whole process seemed straightforward enough. Sakari took part in one last StormChase before she left, she said her goodbyes to her parents seconds before she lifted off, and was then gone. Into the clouds of the fading sunset.

The Transition

Sakari enjoyed the journey a lot more than she had expected. There were more things to see in the night than she had ever thought, so many prey creatures to feast upon, so many BeastClan familiars to tease and mimic. This life suited her, if only it wasn't so lonely. That was one of the only things Sakari missed from her old clan. The companionship, the presence of others to keep her company. That, and her longing to chase another storm with her family were the only worries she had. Hunting had become easier with more practice, and if she kept her wings to her side, they covered up the brightest of the scars, enabling her to feed every night. When she woke up to the sight of a burning sunset, the Nocturne would be filled with a deep sense of calm and peace. She wouldn't miss her clan as much with that beautiful sight before her. She would take off, into the cloud cover before the moon had first slid over the hill tops in the distance. Despite her early accident, Sakari still loved to fly. Her wings would slice through thick, star soaked clouds, no one but the night sky a witness to her adventures. Eventually, she cleared the lightning flight territory. As she had flown, the storms had gotten more and more calm, until they had disappeared altogether. That was when the Nocturne realised that she was within the Water Flight. Huge waves crashed below her, as if daring Sakari to explore their treacherous depths. The lack of electricity in the air around her, the silence where there was always a hum of power set her scales on edge. Instead, all she could feel was an ever building tension, as if the water was waiting to explode. A shiver arced down her spine as a white crest of water rose toward her. If this was what the sea looked like at night, it would be ferocious under the rays of the sun. The Nocturne flexed her muscles as she flew. She couldn't stay her in daylight, her eyes were unused to the sun and would burn if they came inti contact with its radiance. She gritted her jaw, and dived. A straight jetliner towards the swelling currents, and then, a moment of calm. Sakari felt like she had reached the calm before a storm, the time before the clouds began their roaring and lightning flashed across the ground. It was then, that she was swept away. It was like stormchasing all over again. She flicked her wings, sending her further down, propelling herself toward the sea floor. A strange sensation filled her as the skin at both sides of her neck bubbled and cracked, flaking off to form gills. She marvelled at the transition. It had happened so fast. One second, her lungs had been burning, eyes stinging with the salt in the water, and then, calm, like she had taken a deep breath in the middle of a forest. The Nocturne shook her head and swung downwards, the sounds of dragons in the distance drawing her nearer.

It wasn't long before she came to the clan. It was the first WaterFlight group she had seen yet. They were very impressive, with their webbed claws and darting, ever watchful eyes. They reminded her of huge fish, constantly looking at the world around them for anything of interest. She spotted dragons of other flights walking among them, gills like her own protruding from their smooth scaled necks. The sight made her shiver in unease. This place was so different, so much lonelier at night than she was used to. There were only a few scattered clan members before her, so they were obviously not a night living clan. That was something that she hadn't considered. Her tendency to live at night rather than by day may be seen as strange and abnormal. What use could they have for a Nocturnal dragon? Sakari pondered over this for a few seconds, before pacing forwards. It didn't take Sakari very long to spot the Leader. The thick waves of authority flooding off of the dragon could be felt from even her far off position. The Matriarch was a stunning Guardian, a long draping Wolf Cape over her wide shoulders, causing her eyes to glint in the darkness. Sakari neared her, careful to endure her presence was noticed before she got to close. The Nocturne politely introduced herself to the slightly stunned and suspicious Guardian. She told the Matriarch of where she had come from, what she could do and the fact that she was only active at night. Sakari was overjoyed when she was accepted into the clan. She had hastily bowed and backed off, unable to contain her excitement. That day, she had slept in small bursts. She wasn't able to sleep with all the racing adrenaline gushing through her mind. What would this clan be like? Would she be a hunter? A Drifter? What were her true strengths? When night finally came, she leapt upwards and inti the sea, determined to show her hunting skill. The scars along her sides glowed brightly, sending a light through the water. It didn't take long for Sakari to capture a fish and some crabs. She didn't understand it. They had seemed stunned when they saw her, as if the glow had affected them in some way. She caught a few more fish, fins get the same result. When the Nocturne brought her prize back to the clan, she was praised by the members and told that she had a gift in hunting. One of the older clanmates explained why the prey had been stunned. They explained how the bright light had confused the fish, made them unsure of where to go or hat to do. The information lifted Sakari's heart. Her scars were helpful? They weren't a draw back? Something to make her life difficult? The longer Sakari spent in her new clan, the more enjoyable she found it. More and more, she placed her loyalties in the Tidelord, discarding the Stormcatcher for what she thought was a better deity. Her clan were everything that she had ever wanted and she knew then, she would never want to leave.
