ABOUT

Hailing from the lovely Everbloom Gardens deep within the Gladekeeper's domain, Hedera grew in a life of shackles.
Headstrong and defiant, she never fit in well with her clan. Their overly traditional views irritated her, and drove the dragoness mad. Females were to be confined to the nesting grounds or food stores, save being in their mate's den nightly. Hedera never agreed with this, and fought against them- violently. Her defiance earned her her shackles and iron collar, confinement in the depths of the hatching caves, and unworldly pain.
She was put through unimaginable torture in her time there in the darkest of places, only able to smell the soothing scent of the earth around her and the metallic blood that wept from her body.

Hedera escaped, after months of meticulous and spite filled planning. She escaped, yes, but not before both her horns painfully shattered to be ripped off and the mane skinned off her back. Her shackles were made enchanted, never to come off unless the spellcaster who put them there removed them themselves. Hedera wears hers shamelessly, unable to remove the reminders of where the came from.
After she ran from her clan in the gardens, Hedera fled into the Shrieking Wilds. Where, she eventually found her newest home. Deep in the wilds where the sun only shone dimly, Hedera made her home in a small hollow and sheltered herself against others. There she hid from other dragons and beasts alike, choosing to lurk in the shadows while learning how to live. She was hostile to other dragons, generally chasing them out of her territory with fierce teeth and claws. While not particularly skilled at first, Hedera's ability to learn in combat made her a rather formidable opponent to face. Eventually her hollow was left alone by locals, the beastclans and dragons fearing the imperial that lurked in the shadows of the thick trees. A Heathen of the forest, they called her. A monster. Though, Hedera rarely fought unless struck at first. She just wanted to be left alone.

Her interest in alchemy comes from the accidental encounter with a traveling clan that ventured into her territory in search of rare plants. Their hospitality and warmth took her by surprise, and she wound up staying there- if confused about the arrangement. She was taught the wonders of science and studying the world around her, how to be curious, and most importantly, the delicate art of alchemy. Hedera was fascinated by this, and dedicated most of her time throwing herself into research and work to better her skills and talents.
Eventually did she part ways with the clan, seeing them off fondly. Hedera was not ready to leave her hollow, and the clan not ready to settle down. They gifted her one last time with many journals both filled and empty for her future research, a gift most welcome by the imperial. Hedera spent her time then on learning more about her craft on her own, life never really changing until one fateful day.

She found an abandoned egg. A small one from a clan nearby. It would seem they got raided, and never rebuilt nor looked for runaway survivors. Hedera did considering giving this egg back, oh yes, but the imperial decided... Maybe, just maybe, this child would do better with her.
And so began Hedera's life as a mother, caring and tending to her newfound egg until it hatched. A lovely female Pearlcatcher dragon was her child, and she felt her heart melt. Hedera, while grouchy and showing a rather rotten disposition to others, practically spoiled her daughter rotten. She doted on the small dragoness, encouraging her ventures into alchemy. A pupil, she had. Hedera enjoyed the child's company, Witche was the small one's name. Her small magical miracle.

Hedera doesn't exactly remember when Bolgar lumbered into their life, but she does know how hostile she was towards him at first. How dare he, saunter in and start caring for her child because of this 'charge' nonsense. She ended up making his life hard the first couple years, which was rather easy considering she was vastly bigger than him. Eventually though, the alchemist warmed up to the bearish guardian. She couldn't really stay upset with someone that didn't have and reason to stay besides protecting her child.

The move to shadow took her by surprise, but wasn't exactly unexpected. A rot had struck up through the nature territories, flora and fauna alike succumbing to the illness to perish. Hedera fled her home once more with her small family, taking her research and tools with her as they left Nature for good.
Shadow was where their wandering stopped at, a quiet hollow by a quiet clan. Hedera could appreciate how she was not bothered here in this new area, and that Witche seemed happy to be able to interact with others at her own pace.
The Imperial alchemist settled down in the Witch's Hollow, rebuilding her lab. She wound up making strong connections and bonds with those that resided in the healer's den of Sleepy Magics, often trading rare ingredients for potions and salves the dragons couldn't make themselves. She's perfectly fine with this arrangement, and happy to have found a home that- she hopes- will be permanent.
