Biography
Yana
Yana and Yani are conjoined identical twins, born to a cult in Lightning. Yana identifies as male, while Yani identifies as female. They are both absurdly unwary of strangers, and trust easily. Of the two, Yani is the first to speak up, bolder than her brother. Yana enjoys new and unfamiliar environments more, though, and is friendlier. He does get lightheaded easily, though, since his heart is nearer to the center of their bodies, and works a bit harder than Yani's heart. They each have the usual requisite number of ribs and collarbones, though Yani's right collarbone is shorter than her left one. They have no proper shoulderblades on the sides where their bodies meet, although there are atrophied floating bones on both of them in about the right location. They can't fly when in dragon form- their combined bodies are just too heavy to be lifted by two wings. Currently, they are working as weavers for Clan Caedis in Ice, far from the cult that raised them. The new freedoms they enjoy and the generally pleasant atmosphere of the clan have enabled Yana to come into his own as an independent person, instead of an extension of his twin. He enjoys the ease with which he can acquire various materials to use on his loom, and loves to experiment with new blends. Art by loyalsnail #216690 |

History
Their birth was seen as a good omen by the cult members, who worshiped the aspect of the Stormcatcher associated with unity of purpose and completeness, and also revered emperors as the closest thing possible to true purity and unity of being. They were clothed exactly the same and treated as the same being from birth onward, worshiped as a manifestation of divinity. Their hair was allowed to grow long, and every morning they were bedecked in fine jewelry and anointed with oils, before being brought before the main altar to make sacrifices to the Stormcatcher on the cult's behalf.
As older children, they learned to weave, one of the few activities permitted them. They enjoyed it, and became quite good at creating complex designs. Four feet to press treadles made things simpler, once they got good enough at dividing out parts for each to do. Despite their lavish treatment, they hated the extreme restrictions imposed on them, and the continued refusal to treat the two of them as independent beings. Choosing their own names in the silence of the night, they waited and made ready to escape. It was in the midst of a violent summer storm just after they reached adulthood that they left the canyon of their birth and started their journey. Sheltered and having no idea of how to traverse the unfamiliar landscape, they nearly died in a flash flood, washing up bruised and battered near the outskirts of a lesser city in Lightning.
