Biography
The Healer
As a young dragon, Smudge would travel around with her mother, Hertha. Hertha is a wandering nomad, traveling around to see all of Sornieth. However, their happiness was not to last.
In one village they passed by, a plague swept through, devastating the dragon population. Hertha was unaffected, but Smudge grew very ill. They were both terrified, worried that her life would be cut short.
However, just as things were looking most grim, the Oshi Tribe showed up. The tribe was filled with healers, who took it upon themselves to treat the villagers. The tribe's matron, Cinder, had devised a cure made from a plant from the far side of Sornieth. It was a miracle that she had enough for those affected, including Smudge.
Weeks passed, and slowly the young snapper grew stronger and healthier. When it came time for the dragons to part ways, Smudge made the first big decision of her life. She asked her mother if she could stay with the Oshi Tribe, and learn to become a healer. She wanted her life's work to be healing other dragons who were in trouble the way she had been. With a sad smile, and pride in her heart, Hertha nodded her head in approval of the young dragon's decision.
Now, Smudge is a skilled healer, spreading health and joy wherever she goes. And she still meets up with Hertha, whenever their wandering paths cross. And they both marvel at how beautiful life can be.

Dear Mom and Dad,
Smudge here. I miss you!! I know it's been a while since my last letter, but time just keeps slipping away from me. I hope you're both doing well and having a great time in your travels!
I'm really happy with the Umber Guild. My husband, Urian, has become the head geologist! He was so excited about his new role! There wasn't exactly a lot of competition for it, but I try not to mention that to him :)
On my end, I've discovered lots of new medicines and healing practices here in the Fortress of Ends. It's amazing what you can learn in such an isolated part of the world. It's very cold here though, and many of the guild members have been grumbling, so we may move soon. If we do, it should be a lot easier for you to visit and see the grandkids!
Yes, it's been a lot of traveling being with the guild. And yes, I love it every day. As I get older, I feel like I get more and more like Mom every day. It's a good thing :)
That's about it for now, but I'll talk to you again soon. You'll have to send me pictures of the places you've been!
Love,
Smudge
(PS - I'm sending you some goodies. I hope they survive the mail okay!)
