Uh-oh, looks like this poisonous baby wandered a little too far from her home lair (220519) ShepherdOfFire) and now she's off to see the world! If ever you feel the need to exalt, she'd really appreciate it if you could just return her to the home lair, or to the 'Dragons Off To See The World' thread, or the traveler's hub thread. This is not necessary, but s/he would be very grateful!

Minya

Minya came out of her egg ready for adventure. Her mother told her and her siblings stories of the travelers that had come from near and far to stay with the clan. She wanted to do that, too! The idea of traveling all over the world to stay in new and different places sounded very exciting. Her mother didn't want her to go because she was still not the best at flying yet. She was determined though to go out on her own. After the family had settled in to rest for the night, she hugged her parents and siblings while they were asleep. Quietly she crept away and took flight upon wobbley wings.

Upon arrival to Vixen's Clan in the Focal Point of Arcane territory, she was found by Stormfall, the ambassador of the clan. He had just come home from his daily patrol. He recognized at once that she was a young traveler (as they've had many come through their lair) so he picked her up and took her to his mother, the beta of the clan. Moonstream congratulated Minya for being so bold and sure of herself but encouraged her to stay with them until she was fully grown, warning her that not all of Sornieth is so kind to hatchlings.

The time had finally come for Minya to leave the comforts of the home she'd made in Arcane, and to continue on her journey. Her departure was a tearful one, as she had truly come to love her Arcane family - but they had all known that soon, this day would come.

With a last, wistful glance at the towering crystal spires of quartz that cradled her home, Minya took to the skies. Her skill at flying had markedly improved, but no one could call her a graceful flyer. Her wingbeats were strong and steady, and she made easy progress through the clear skies. But as she approached the Twisting Crescendo, her flight became more haphazard, and she began to fear for her safety in the howling winds.

As she dove to the ground in a quick landing, she noticed a crooked tower in the distance, seemingly constructed of bamboo and reeds. It looked abandoned, but Minya hoped the crude structure could provide some shelter. But to her surprise, as she entered through the tower's highest and smallest window, she stumbled into a bustling and expansive lair, crowded with dragons of every size and shape going about their daily business.

Although they were certainly startled by her intrusion, these Wind dragons were happy to shelter Minya from the storm. She was taken to meet with the Clan Founder, Zephyr, and as the days passed, she met her court and counsel as well. In time, Minya was given her share of work to complete - hunting was a favorite task of hers, as the rapid winds outside the lair provided her with a challenging arena in which to practice her flying. But Minya knew she was only a guest in this bamboo lair, and sensed that soon, she would get the urge to travel once more.

Wolf Clan is predominantly nature dragon-only clan which thrives in the Viridian Labyrinth in the heart of the Everbloom Gardens. The clan was given its name after the founder and current alpha, the eldest Tundra male, Wolf.
Minya had heard stories of this newly forming clan, stories of how the small but mighty clan raised Black Wolves and Winter Wolves and upon their passage skinned their lifeless bodies and wore their skins like capes after burying their flesh as a sacrifice to the Gladekeeper herself out of spiritual or 'religious' reasons that seemed more ghastly then one of the Gladekeeper's worst rivals, her own sister the Plaugebringer.
Minya believed these stories to be nothing more then what they were, stories; nothing more then some lore to tell a hatchling on the night of Riot and Rot, but little did Minya know these stories weren't just stories but legends.
The legends of Wolf Clan reveled truth to Minya when Minya found herself lost in the Viridian Labyrinth blundering blindly through the Everbloom Gardens in the dusk. The alpha, Wolf, found Minya and brought her into his clan as a welcomed guest. Here Minya meet Wolfwing, the female Coatl apprentice of Wolf and Unnamed (#27748857,) the female Tundra beta and mate of Wolf, and many more.
Minya came quick to be-friend Emrys, the current healer and story speaker of Wolf Clan. Emrys was a male Spiral who wore the bones of animals and feathers of the deceased, and on his skull rest a skull. Emrys was quick to request Minya access from Wolf to one of Wolf Pack's most secret sacred ceremonie most visiting outsiders did not witness, and upon request Wolf kindly accepted despite his mate's skepticism.
Upon a rival at the ceremony a bonfire was lite by the chooser ceremonial lighter Wolfwing and the ceremony began.
Sacrifices such as insects, meats, seafoods, and plants, were all cast seemly carelessly into the fire as dragons yowled and howled. 'Greater' sacrifices such as riches like treasure and gems caused uproars of approval.
As the last gem was cast into the fire the flame ingulfed it as the smoke rose into the now smoky night sky.
Wolf stepped forward as he laid the limp body of an aged Winter Wolf male that was almost as old as himself down and closed his eyes in respect. Upon seeing others, including Emrys, doing this Minya closed her eyes out of respect and gave a brief moment of silence.
Emrys nudged Minya in the ribs as Minya opened her eyes along with everybody else. Emrys jerked his head back towards the ceremony to signal it was about to start up again.
Wolf lifted the Winter Wolf's body up with his left paw and with some hesitation he stared first at the dead body before skinning it with his right front claws.
Mortified, Minya took a step back as she could only watch in horror as the dead Winter Wolf was skinned and shortly after gutted.
Paws shaking and claws trembling Wolf raked his trembling front right claws into the Winter Wolf's insides as he hooked his now bloody claws on the Winter Wolf's organs gutting him like a fish as he quickly cast the gutts, including the Winter Wolf's punctured un-beating heart, into the flame.
As the last of the gutts were cast aside and burned Wolf set his bloody claws down on the groung as sticky red blood dripped from his dense Tundra coat. Wolf turned towards Minya as his eyes flashed with tears.
Wolf then turned towards Unnamed and nodded as she returned the nod and screeeched loudly signally the ceremony was over.
Wolf Clan dragons quickly cleared out as Minya watched Unnamed give Wolf a loving nudge of encouragement as Wolf hesitantly dug the Winter Wolf's grave before burying him and curling up on top of the Winter Wolf's grave where Wolf would spend the rest of the night with no food, water, of sleep, keeping a silent undisturbed vigil alone.
Minya knew at once that dead Winter Wolf had once belonged to Wolf before he died.
The ways of Wolf Clan were strange to Minya, and their ways even more so. Their fogien tongue only matched by their forgien ways, ways Minya was not custom to and never would be.
Minya turned to Emrys and said her final fairwells, both Minya and Emrys knew that had fallen for one another yet both knew better neither was compatable with heavy belief or hard travel.
Minya made the tough decision to continue you her travels, but not before agreeing to stay five extra nights with the one she loved, Emrys.
Five days later, Emrys and Minya had two hatchlings.
Now with a heavy burden and a heavy heart Minya left her two hatchlings behind with Wolf Clan where she knew that would be safer with her father Emrys.
Minya took flight as Emrys roared his goodbyes as Minya's two hatchlings watched curiously, ears perked, eyes wide, from their nest as their mother left.
Leaving behind Wolf Clan was hard, but leaving behind her family was harder. But for Minya, this was what she had to do, and for Minya travel to her destination was destiny.
