Lineage

Biography

A stark contrast to Wormwood's apathetic and stern personality, Verbena is a carefree Coatl that loves nothing more than smelling herbs when Wormwood isn't looking. Verbena is surprisingly haphazard for a healer, and she frequently makes mistakes when she tries to concoct a potion or poultice. She can also be unnecessarily rough or cautious, which frustrates Wormwood to no end. Verbena represents Wormwood at council meetings, since her mentor is too apathetic about Clan matters to attend. Like the plant she was named after, Verbena almost always has a sweet scent surrounding her, thanks to her almost constant exposure to herbs.

Full Name: Verbena

Rank: Healer's Apprentice and Member of the Sorexian Council

Personality: Verbena is very carefree and is somewhat of a klutz due to her large wings and stubby legs. Despite having experience as a healer, Verbena is very haphazard with her duties, and she frequently spills potions or adds an incorrect ingredient to her concoctions. She can be unnecessarily rough or cautious, which can sometimes cause her to make grave mistakes. In case any dragon tries to rat her out for it, though, Verbena is very apologetic, and she will follow a dragon for hours just so she could apologize to them for a minor infraction. Verbena is usually sweet towards her patients, but she can be a bit clingy at times, especially towards the object of her affections, Tonic.

Orientation: Grey-Heterosexual/Heteroromantic

Relationship Status: Taken by Tonic, has 4 daughters with him.

Kin: Alessan (father), Catriana (mother), Tonic (significant other), Willow (daughter), Jambalaya (daughter), Hortense (daughter), Merci (daughter)

Familiar: Carmine the Serthis Alchemist. Carmine is a feisty familiar who frequently argues with Verbena over various ingredient combinations for their poultices and potions. She is a very skilled brewer, and she takes intense pride in her alchemy. While she mostly brews just to show off her aptitude, Carmine's potions are surprisingly powerful, and they have a signature aftertaste of burnt cinnamon. Despite her uneasy relationship with Verbena, both Verbena and Carmine do respect each other to a certain degree, and they occasionally collaborate on a potion or poultice.

Reputation: Like her mentor, Verbena is respected by her Clanmates, but this is to a lesser degree since she is merely an apprentice. Some of her Clanmates question whether she is suitable for her rank, as her haphazardly made potions and poultices have sickened dragons on more than one occasion. However, pretty much nobody questions her loyalty to the Clan and her passion for healing, and some patients are willing to risk a side effect from one of her potions so they can be attended by her instead of Wormwood.

Likes: healing, plants (especially flowers), warm colors, potions // Dislikes: disease, death, her mentor's apathy, dark colors, impolite dragons

Backstory: Verbena came from a nomadic family of healers that went around the world of Flight Rising in order to distribute potions and other healing items to newly-founded Clans. She lived a very peaceful life until she and her family fell ill to a sickness that none of their medicines could treat or cure. While her family did manage to make it without too much complication, Verbena was traumatized by the experience and pledged to prevent as many illnesses as she possibly could, as she didn't want another dragon to suffer the same plight as she did. She promptly left her family to start her goal, and she immediately went for the domain with the most disease: the Scarred Wasteland. Predictably, her goal of preventing disease didn't go well with the native dragons there, and she was forced to settle down in a Clan and focus her efforts on her Clanmates instead of the whole domain. Even though Verbena was already a decent healer when she arrived, she was very naive and haphazard, and Lady assigned her to Wormwood so she could become more careful with her duties.
