Quartz is a well respected member of the clan. Regarded as one of the Elders, Quartz is the authority when it comes to anything nature. Spring & Equinox must get permission before venturing into the Viridian Labyrinth, although the permission is always granted. Quartz's main duty revolves around ensuring that no area is over foraged or damaged. Quartz checks different areas on a regular basis to keep an eye on this, and also to make sure there is no parasites or bugs affecting the growth of plants. He also ensures that the insect and animal levels are within normal range- if they are over collected and it interferes with regular distribution, then dragons must leave the area for a certain period of time. Quartz enjoys his role, and has an ethereal air about him. When he surveys the forest, he often is followed by many curious critters, hoping for a glance of the Forest King.

Although Quartz might appear to be a perfectly nature entwined dragon, he was actually born in the Southern Icefield. While he was too young to make the trek from there to the Viridian Labyrinth, he contented himself and his growing interest in nature with visits to the Snowsquall Tundra forests. Seeing those huge evergreen trees, somehow remaining green amongst the snow, instilled his love of nature. On one such visit, he came across Celestine- a female Skydancer who looked and acted angelic. Celestine had been in the forests for a while before Quartz (on account of being older), tending to the trees and the critters. She welcomed Quartz and showed him how to monitor the plants, insects and animals. Sometimes they would even go to freezing rivers and observe the marine life. The pair quickly became bonded, feeling as if they were fated to meet.

They joined a new clan together that accepted them happily. Quartz and Celestine regularly brought up the topic of going to the Labyrinth, and this was a factor in Aqueous' decision to uproot the whole clan to the Sunbeam Ruins- a land that was close enough to the Viridian Labyrinth to suit Quartz & Celestine, while being close to a lot of other lands. Perfect!
