Biography

Shine

Jewler of the Twilight Circle
Quote:
Shine was the youngest hatchling of a clan who sold her off in an auction in order to gain treasure. She was going for around 7000 treasure, and meant to be a labour dragon, as nocturnes are good at mimicking tasks, but a passerby saw the auction happening and took her in for 10000 treasure. That dragon was Kalya and he brought her into the clan.

Mothwing told her about his home and she took a trip there, seeing all the different gemstones there. Getting back, she noticed jewelry with them, and decided she wanted to make some.

The youngest daughter of a reaper of death, Shine knew from a young age that life could be short and unforgiving. Because of this, she developed the ability to just accept that things sometimes happen. As a hatchling she tried to be positive, in hope that everyone around her would feel a little more happy. This behaviour was seen as strange, especially for a nocturne. Older dragons whispered about how her behaviour was independent of the dragons she surrounded herself in. Independent Nocturnes like how Shine was acting only existed in legends.

As she was seen taking mild interest in her father's work, the older dragon's fears subsided. Though she thought his work was interesting, she thought it would be better for him if he could be happy. She never told anyone this, and never would.

Deciding that she still acted enough like a nocturne, the clan put her up for auction, selling her as a dragon who could learn to work any job. She wanted to stay with her father, but she already knew that sometimes life isn't the best, and that she'd have to live with it. Her older sister Row stood beside her.

Being a guardian, Row had different expectations placed upon her. Trained to be a fighter who had yet to find a charge. She was being sold as a protector to whatever clan she was bought from. The way her father never placed bunch emphasis on family relationships, she didn't have much of a bond with Row. Row had been bought off earlier than she was, so she mimicked the proud expression her sister had bore as she had been taken. It felt weird, but the dragon from her clan currently with her to iniate the sales looked on in an approving manner.
Two dragons were starting to climb through offering somewhere in the six thousands for her. At least its for the most of my clan, right? That's what the dragon with her had said.

"Nine thousand." A soft but steady voice had said above the crowd. A purple skydancer stood, with a bag of treasure being clutched. "If that's not enough I can offer more."

The two other dragons who were bidding had fallen silent.

"Ten thousand and we have ourselves a deal."

The skydancer handed over the treasure, and Shine took a step towards the skydancer. He didn't look too intimidating. Everyone there was slowly starting to disperse.
"I'm Shine," she said, introducing herself. This was the dragon she would be working for.

"My name is Kalya. No, you aren't actually going to be working for me, or my clan."

Kalya had started walking, and Shine followed quickly. She was surprised that he had almost read her mind.

"I'm a skydancer. I can pick up on emotions," he said. "From what I picked up from many of the other buyers, they didn't have the best intentions for you."

"Why did you do that then?"
"You're barely older than a hatchling. Please don't convince yourself you're old enough to do any of the work they may have wanted you to do."

Arriving to the clan Kalya resided in, he explained that it was called The Twilight Circle. He brought her to the clan's leader, a face named Twinkle, explaining the situation of her arrival. Agreeing to let her become a resident of the circle, Twinkle led her to a blue and purple tundra named Bubblefrost, who showed her around the clan.

After settling in to the Twilight Circle, she started to see life differently. She found herself more able to mimic the actions of everyone else, because it felt more right. It was a happier environment she enjoyed a lot more than her old home. There were even dragons her own age she could talk to! They even liked talking to her.

Talking with Mothwing, she learned of how his family had left him. Something about that had resonated with her. While she liked her family, or her father, her mother, sister and any other half siblings she may have had were absent from her life. She was interested in his situation.

She asked Stormwater if there was any way for her to go to Dragonhome. He explained to her how far it was, and how it could be dangerous to go alone. She still wanted to go.
"Hold on," He said to her, before calling over someone else. "Mania, do...you want to go on a trip to Dragonhome?"

"You're telling we I get to go to Dragonhome?"
"You're talking Shine with you. I can't go with you, sorry."
Mania looked at her and nodded.

Stormwater was able to arrange a clan for them to stay in, explaining that on the way they would have to find their own shelter and food.

"You two can do it right?"
"Of course."

The two of them made the journey north. It took multiple days to do, it they were glad they made it.

It looked really different from the Tangled Woods, where she had grown up. It was a lot more brown, and brighter.
One other thing it had an abundance of was gemstones.

They caught her eye instantly. Even better, there were dragons in the clan who made things out of them. While she learned about how a terrain like this might have been cause for abandoning hatchlings, she also discovered something she enjoyed doing for herself.

Personality

She tries to be positive

Bonds

Best friends with Cobalt

Thinks Stormwater is cool because he gets to go wherever if he wants

Thinks of Kalya as a father figure, a little jealouse or Erianthe and Mania because of that

She and Mothwing both relate to each other a little bit and sometimes take to each other

Misc. info

There was no auction. I just spent 10kt on a dragon in the AH

She has some form of independence which is rare for nocturnes
