Unlike fae changelings, who are faes that are raised by humans, Soma is a human raised by faes. At a young age, he was taken from his family and world, and into the fae world. He was so young when he was taken from his world that he hardly remembers any of it, having only the memories of the fae world and his fae family. Despite having almost no memories of his original home and family though, he still always longed to return to them. Soma would always express these wishes with his fae family, but they usually brushed him off, saying he was too young. Once he became an adult he pressed the issue more, insisting that he be allowed to go back to the human world. His family kept saying that he would regret it if he went back, but never telling him why. Growing more and more frustrated he eventually figured out how to get back to the human world, he left without ever saying anything, instead choosing to just leave a simple note explaining where he had gone to.
Soma realized once he got to the human world that time passes differently between the two worlds. While not much time had passed in the fae world, hundreds of years had passed in the human world, no one knew who he was or recognized him. He quickly realized that that meant that his parents and family in this world were long gone, and that he would never see them again. All he had left of his family were his memories, which unfortunately weren’t much. Devastated, he started travelling around the world, not knowing what to do or where to go.
Being raised by royalty Soma was taught to be elegant and graceful, his family always held him to high standards and because of that he holds himself to those same standards. He has a very gentle and kind personality, always helping those in need when he could. His family would often disapprove of him interacting with peasants and those beneath them, but that never stopped him. Once he left the fae world he had to learn how to interact with humans, and how different things were. Soma became fairly quiet and reserved, not knowing what to do or how to interact with anyone. He eventually met Faye, who helped him learn more about the human world.
