Pember was born a small leviathan under soft iridescent currents of the Sea. With bright, intelligent eyes and an inquisitive mind, Pember often got in trouble for the mischief caused when she explored or experimented. Her curiosity was never sated though. She wanted to know more, and was especially intrigued by the reactions of different species, be they dragon or otherwise.

The best way, she found, to elicit responses from others was to play little games and tricks. She'd hide just under the waves and wait for her prey to sail by. Or, she'd wait in high, high clouds and watch the dragons beneath her. Pember, however, wanted more tricks. So, she went to some of the farthest reaches of the Sea to learn from the Hag-witches. They taught her to utilize her Water born magics into illusions of air and water. It took her mischievous ways to a whole new level, and between the air and sky no one was safe from her almost always harmless tricks.

When Pember met Illiana, after a nice trip to the deeper currents, the two became fast friends over their mutual love of shiny things. And, with Pember's easy gait and Illiana's quick claws, they knew they could make their hoard even larger. So, the two theiving partners began to use Pember's tricks and illusions as their cover, while Illiana would slip in and cut purses and jewels.
