 There was little that could have been done for the sprawling clan of Ochoku: its last-ditch efforts to win back the conflict had failed miserably, and no more words could be said. It lay fragmented and broken, and surely the forces of Inkaika were on their way to claim her head.

A moment of weakness when she had stood tall for so long, and the shogun fled.

It was unlike her, not when glorious death in combat was always superior to standing down. But now she hadn't the will to do such a thing: she couldn't bear to look back at what she had left behind.

A mere stop past the territory of the Imminence, and yet Takonawi found herself lingering: it was safe here, no judgments made on your previous history. There was something off about countless dragons here, perhaps, but even with such unease... where were they to run?

She would surely be executed, or imprisoned and crippled, and her companion would only suffer a similar fate. The thought ached terribly, especially when imagining her people and her children left behind.

Maybe, someday, she could found something new.
