The Storm Crows are the Wu Xing clan's best aerialists. They fly out to find wounded and sick patients who can't quite reach the lair, given the fierce storms and sheer sides of the Tempest Spire. Once a patient is located, if the Crows are unable to transport themselves, they will send for back-up to ensure that the patient is safely taken in. They will often fly for days on end, and their range covers almost all of the Shifting Expanse. Storm Crows are identified by their bright blue wings flashing against a dark body.

Nepenthe is a very intense individual. With an acid tongue and a sharp wit, not many dragons are willing to tangle with her. Some say she strikes just as hard as the viper her patterned hide resembles - quick to bite or scratch anyone who drifts into her personal space, followed by a brutal dissection of character. Many questioned the wisdom of allowing her to stay with the clan after she had fully recovered from the broken hip that brought her there in the first place. Wei Qi, however, saw potential in the angry young Skydancer coupled with a need for further healing. In many ways, Nepenthe is the very essence of Lightning; the intensity with which she focuses on her work often pushes her body well beyond its limits.

Wei Qi assigned Nepenthe to the Storm Crows because the demanding and precise nature of the work suited her. Although Nepenthe resents having a partner, it is Wei Qi's hope that the gentle, open nature of Lu Gan Shi will help to draw out the hard knot of grief that Nepenthe hides deep within.
