Biography

Broken Sentry

"I might have lost my wings, but I do not need them to stop those that might wish my homeland harm."

Guardian: Wardens Captain- Beast Maulers | Suitor: ? | Story: WIP
PvyhIgu.png

g8ptzdq.png WIP put the wordy words here. Need something good to say!

Since being assigned as Orick's guard she has developed a strong respect for the Beasts, even those that would wish her homeland and family harm. She has come to see the dragons as the invasive species, though they did not ask to be created they are here now and there's nothing that can be done about that. It is time to work together with the beasts towards a peaceful future... or at the very least a compromise that keeps everyone from each other's throats.

During Sins of the Deities, Cyan was hurt severely in a surprise attack on Orick's village. She fought hard to get the civilians to safety and in the end, it cost her her wings. Though if asked if she regrets her actions she will tell you no.

0HmSgI3.png Extremely rough WIP

...there isn’t always a fix!” Ewo stopped as he waited for the reverberation of his words to stop bouncing through the room. Cyan across from him was stunned, her eyes wide, mouth agape, and tears streamed down her cheeks. “How we end up cannot always be fixed, Cyan,” he continued, his voice softer, more compassionate then before. “But that does not mean we are broken. It does not mean we are no longer drakes. Yes, we might have to have a little more aid, but that does not diminish who we are, who we’ve always been.

Cyan’s eyes hardened as her attention settled firmly on Ewo. “This is easy for you to say—

“Yes it is!” Ewo shouted, his own tears budding in his eyes. Cyan recoiled from his renewed shouting, in that instant understanding who she was talking too. He, the one that was so desperate to ‘fix’ his pains he gave away his own memories, and still he was not ‘fixed’. He merely traded one issue for another. Ewo released his frustration through a rough sigh and the slouching of his shoulders. “I understand that you wish to have everything back to normal, but sometimes that just cannot happen. Fighting against this truth does not help you move past it. I know that hurts, I know it’s frightening and frustrating, but it is the truth and the sooner you accept it the sooner you can move forward.”

Cyan’s eyes fogged over with a renewed pouring of tears. For a long while she stared at Ewo, waiting for the punch line to this cruel joke. It never came. Years of running and denying to no avail finally caught up to her and she crumpled to the ground a ball of nerves and fear. “I’ll never fly again?” she muttered under her breath.

Ewo curled up with her, gently wiping the tears from her many eyes. “There is a chance of that yes,” he confessed solemnly. “Flying isn’t all there is to life, Cyan.”

Cyan snorted. “It seems one less thing to have.”

“Nothing else is missing.”

Again she snorted in utter disbelief of what Ewo suggested. “No family, no cubs—

“How do you get that?” Ewo asked. He worked them both into a sitting position.

Cyan gawphed. “Look at me!” she hissed. “I’m hideous; no one in their right mind would find me a suitable mate—

“I would,” Ewo said quickly and afterwards cleared his throat several times, which left the two in awkward silence. “I’m sure you’ll have no issue finding someone that will think you are the world, Cyan,” he continued finally. Another silence settled on the room only broken by Ewo when he stood to fix them tea.

Cyan watched him intently, trying desperately to understand the new warmth that was crawling up from her chest into her cheeks. She didn’t understand it, but she did like the feel of it. Ewo finished pouring two cups and returned to her side. Gently, she took the drink between her paws, adding it’s warmth to her own.

“I would like for you to start seeing Eleos.” He suggested that and Cyan twitched. “I hear you’ve been resistant to the aid.”

“It’s embarrassing—

“There’s nothing embarrassing about healing yourself, Cyan. It takes strength to tackle that which hurts you. You know this.”

Cyan inhaled the steam that curled around her muzzle, allowing the warm vapor to sooth her fired up nerves. Everything in her was insisting she rear up against this insult that she wasn’t strong and yet she knew it wasn’t an insult. She wasn’t strong enough because she will not allow herself to heal. You would think accepting help in the healing task would be easy, but it was far from it. It was like pulling out teeth with no anesthetic. “I know.”

“Good, then it is decided. I will speak to Eleos tomorrow and arrange a time to talk.”

“Will you be there?” she asked softly. (if she was going to unburden her soul then she would rather do so with him there, the idea of doing it alone frightened her.) Honestly she wasn’t sure where that came from. She had a strong desire to have him close to her; to have him there when she asked for help. He soothed her, calmed her and she was thankful for that.

“Of course,” Ewo said without missing a beat. He bore a brilliant smile that prompted her to smile. More tingly heat raced over her cheeks as she watched him and she was beset with a need to giggle. To prevent that she downed her tea.

“Oh.” Ewo giggled at her empty cup. “You were thirsty. Would you like some more?”

“I wou--” Outside, the town clock struck one, signaling Cyan’s need to head to duty. “I would,” she continued, “but I’m afraid I have duty.” She stood, collecting her things as she went. “Thank you Ewo. Will I see you tomorrow?”

“As many times as I can possibly make that happen,” he spoke with something of a far off look in his eye and lopsided grin. After a moment he jerked out of his trance and his eyes went wide. “Was that out loud?”

“Yes,” Cyan said, fighting with another urge to giggle.

“OH!” Ewo cleared his throat several times before he could move on. “Oh, well I meant that I’ll check on you often.”

That heat that was centralized in her chest and cheeks now exploded throughout her body. “I’d like that. Thank you.” The clock chimed again, urging her towards work and away from Ewo’s office. “I’ll see you later then. Have a good day, Ewo.”

“You too,” he said as she left the door. Cyan took a deep breath of the afternoon air, relishing the smell of wild flowers. For the first time in a long time she felt satisfied, almost happy. It was a gift she was thankful for and would fight to hold on to for the rest of the day.

Keep the opal idea. This might make a good story later, about a bio-resin used to patch her scars and the gashes in her wings.
