Ciel
Daredevil / Scavenger

Duchess and Aether’s first mating season sadly didn’t yield any eggs. Then, several weeks later Aether surprised his depressed partner with a gift: a baby spiral! Though he knew he would regret it, Aether couldn’t resist visiting the adoption center at the market. He wanted to see what might have been…and then he adopted a hatchling. He was scolded by Duchess about making this kind of decision without her, but she still accepted the baby with a watery smile.
Ciel was the first child of the Chronicles Flight, so he was often doted on, by both his parents, and his aunt Alouette and uncle Voluspa. It’s a habit that still lingers to this day. He’s treated like the baby of the family despite being the oldest of the hatchlings, and he doesn’t attempt to stop it either. The spiral enjoys the attention, and it makes life easier for him.
As he grew older, Ciel developed an appreciation for the freestyle and daredevil antics that the Wind Flight naturally displayed. Being the only dragon from its heritage in his family was difficult at times. There was no one to talk to about the absolute feeling of freedom and rightness felt while soaring and tumbling through the sky, as if becoming one with the wind.
Eventually, he started visiting the Windswept Plateau whenever he left on scavenging hunts. It was always exciting to watch other dragons take to the skies and perform their variety of tricks. It was nice to feel like he belonged. Everyone here just seemed to understand what he felt, with no words needed…
Ciel wants to move to the Windswept Plateau, but also doesn’t want to leave his clan. Despite the reassurance from his parents, he just can’t bring himself to leave. He loves them, and owes them everything for what they’ve done - taking him in when no one, not even his biological parents, wanted him. Akimitsu says this is something he should discuss with them, but Ciel brushes it off, lightly joking that he’s too embarrassed, and that “it’s really not a big deal”.

Cloud Chaser: Named Vaqita [she/her]
Cute, curious, and playful. She loves flying with her master, and participating in her own aerial stunts, though she crashes far less than Ciel. That's how they met actually, Ciel spotted a billow of dust and found her recovering from her own failed stunt attempt. The two became practice buddies, and then friends. Vaqita is always up for love and attention, and tends to become jealous when someone spends too much time with her master, including Akimitsu to some extent.
Clouddancer: Named Ingram [he/him]
Ciel first met Ingram after crash landing; he was laughing (though it was more like an odd cackle) at him from a treetop. Feeling flustered and defensive, he challenged the clouddancer to a test of skill. The two went at it, and surprisingly it ended with them becoming friends. Ingram likes to laugh, especially at another's expense, and flying high through the clouds. Him and Vaqita have an on/off friendship. The cloud chaser thinks he's trying to steal Ciel's attention away from her, while Ingram remains oblivious, confused as to why she'll suddenly give him the cold shoulder.
