"Hey bro."

Though slightly surprised at the choice of words, he instantly recognized the speaker.

"Citrus. Hi. What's up?"

His jagged way of speaking was something he had never bothered fixing, and had stuck with him since he was able to talk.

"Do you think Nightsine and Mothwing really love each other? I mean, you've heard the story, and it seems so off. I mean if they didn't actually love each other then we would exist, Twinkle probably wouldn't have let them have hatchlings if they didn't really love each other, but then again she doesn't really lead I that strict of a way so she might not have cared and-"

"Stop for a bit. A moment. Let me speak. Sorry to have cut you off."

He really wasn't, but Citrus unlike him had a tendency to go on and ramble, and overthink things. He knew his brother well enough to tell that he would probably over think things and come up with some crazy idea that would cause both of them to over think and maybe believe it.

"I'm sure they love us. At least they wouldn't have kept us if they didn't."

"Yeah, sure. They love us so much that we're the only two of our siblings that even got to stay here. At least they intentianally kept you! I'm only here because no other clan wanted me. They couldn't even exalt me! At least with exaltion I would actually have a purpose, and I could bring back some treasure for the clan! The rest of our siblings are either in a dead clan of off serving a deity!"

"The eleven. Your interest in them. When did that start." He shook his head. "They must love us. Somehow. If Aim and Umbra-"

"Don't even think about bring up Umbra and Eyeburner. Their parents or at least their mother despises them. Who's to say that's not true with us? Didn't they have a sister that ran away before we were born? Why don't we have a sister? "

"Toxin and Whirlwind must love them... In their own way. And that's Aim now. You should know that." He had barely closed his mouth before the second realization hit him. "Wait. You want a sister?"

"Sure. I mean it would be cool, even if she didn't stuck around in the clan. Just it seems that having a sister would probably mean our family isn't cursed to only have males or something."

"Girls. There aren't a shortage of female dragons. Just talk to one. Gloaming? Isn't she your age? Her family is only growing."

"Sure. Yeah whatever. I'll talk to her maybe. Anyways back on topic."

Ive never heard you be the one saying back on topic before, Mulberry thought.

"So do you think they love us?"

"Sure. Somewhere somehow maybe."

He had been ready to end their conversation, when Citrus spoke again.

"That's such a bad answer."

Another one of Citrus's speaking habits is that he always got the last word in. A glimmer of amusement in two of his four eyes, he grinned.

"Always the last word," he muttered to himself under his breath. He was slightly surprised that Citrus had heard him.

"Exactly."
