Biography
❁
"You're across the room There's nothing I can do When did this get real I fear what I feel I know there ain't no us At love fools anonymous 12 steps won't change my mind About to cross the line" ❁ |
“Are you aware you’re gorgeous?” “Are you aware you’re infuriating?” The seer frowned at the Skydancer before her, trying her best not to roll her eyes. Screech chuckled, merely resting his chin on his front paws and leaning in closer across the way to peek at her books. “What are you reading?” “Archaic manuals that a man of your intelligence could never understand.” Whine shot back, grumbling to herself under hear breath as Screech laughed yet again. “Why do you hate me so much, Whine?” He ventured after a few beats of silence. Whine’s student, Murmur, muffled a snort from across the room. Whine looked to her disapprovingly first before turning her attention on her fellow Skydancer. “Tell me, Screech, why do you enjoy pestering me so?” “Because I know a pretty lady when I see one.” He flicked his pink fluff covered tail in her direction, winking, “And you top the list of pretty ladies in the Forum.” “Careful not to hear Meila say that.” Whine mumbled under her breath. Screech’s grin grew wider. “Plus, you’re more interesting. You always have some sort of come back and you’re clearly in charge of yourself--” “No kidding.” Murmur mumbled, earning yet another look from her mentor. “--and I like that about you. You’re mysterious.” He waggled his brow and she made a noise of disgust. “And you’re like every other two bit dragon in the Forum.” “Let me prove you wrong.” “How?” “One date.” “One date.” She echoed incredulously. She pinched the bridge of her snout, “Alright, one date. Just one. It won’t work but whatever.” She waved a claw dismissively, “Now go, shoo, I have work to do.” Screech grinned wide and darted from the room, shouting a “You won’t regret it!” as he retreated. He was dead set on making that a truthful statement. He couldn’t force her into anything but he could be on his best behavior--if a bit overdone--and he could make her feel just like the goddess her saw her as. At least, he hoped. |
“Well?” Screech stood in the center of a clearing in the Tangled Wood that he’d decorated with all manner of magical lights. They cast a soft glow across the clearing, a dancing rainbow just for her. He was nervous as he watched Whine take it all in before turning her attention to him. “I’ll admit, I’m impressed. But what do you intend for this rendezvous?” Screech cleared his throat and toed the dirt at his feet, “I was hoping to just chat, actually.” “Just chat?” He nodded, the butterflies in his stomach threatening to fly to his throat and choke his words out. He took a steadying breath before continuing, “As I said before, you fascinate me, Whine.” “I fascinate many creatures.” There was something in her voice now that he couldn’t quite place as she stepped closer and then sat in front of him. He took this as a queue that he could relax and sit himself. He studied her for a few moments before speaking. “How have your lessons been?” Whine snorted, “Long and boring, but Murmur shows promise. I doubt you’re interested in my lessons.” She fixed him with a stare and he almost recoiled underneath it. It’s like she could see right through him. He did wince slightly. “Truth be told I’m not sure what to say to you. I never actually thought I’d get this far.” He chuckled, a nervous sound, and looked to the lights that danced about the clearing. “You care an awful lot about people who’ve not given you half a thought.” Whine commented, nonchalant but clearly pressing. He smiled. “I see no reason I shouldn’t care about the ones I want to be closer with. I’ve heard you’re not exactly the most callous dragon on Sornieth.” A sly smirk spread across his features, a bit of that usual bravado coming back. Whine was quiet for a bit before sighing and shaking her head, “You’re impossible.” “You love it.” It was a bold statement, one he made without thinking. Whine laughed loud then, tossing her head back as she did. “Admittedly? I do, Screech. You keep things interesting.” “So you do like me!” He chirped, grinning and doing his best not to leap to his feet then and there. Whine cast a mock glare in his direction. “Unfortunately for you I do enjoy your attention.” “Unfortunately?” “If you tell anyone of this,” She stated, leaning in to where she was threateningly close, coiling her tail around his, “I will gut you.” “Say your mine and it’s a deal.” She quirked a smile, “It’s a deal.” |
