Basophil is a Skydancer born in the Southern Icefield. His mother was a dragon of Light, captured and taken south to serve the Icewarden. After a long time spent captive, this Skydancer took which hatchlings she could, fleeing back home to safety. On her journey home, she was captured again, destined to be killed for her insolence. She demanded her children scatter wherever they could, so Basophil headed forward, wherever it would take him.

The young dragon ended up in the Ashfall Waste, happy to be anywhere but the dangers of his icy homeland. He was discovered by Pyrexia one day as she was out with some hatchlings she was taking on a field trip. Basophil, always one who loved to learn and teach, joined her and helped her teach a lesson for that day. Pyrexia's job was to tend nests, but often aided in teaching the clan's young dragons. It was far too much work for one dragon, and Basophil saw an opportunity for himself.

The Skydancers made their way back to the lair, and Basophil met Syrinx where he was granted his position within the clan. Though the hatchlings spend a good time out learning with hatchlings from other clans in the Ashfall Waste, Basophil makes sure to groom them with lessons far more advanced than they learn with their peers. His goal is to make each and every hatchling as educated as he can before they set out on whatever their life's journey may be.
