"Why can't you be a good hunter like everyone else!" yelled the Fae's mother as she smacked him across the snout, sending the poor hatchling sprawling onto the floor.
"M-mother I'm doing the best I can-" Stuttered the little dragonet.
"Well that's not good enough! While your brothers and sisters are bringing in kills three times bigger than they are, what do you bring me?" She screeched, "A Scaleback pup that you couldn't manage to kill! You're a disgrace to this family! If you were old enough I'd exalt you, but you'd somehow manage to screw that up!"
The little fae began to tear up. "Mother please I-I'll do better n-next time! I swear!"
"There is no room in this family for lies." She hissed as she clawed his neck.

That night, LizardWing fled his home with the little baby Scaleback, some food, and a small canteen filled with water. For days he and his scale back wandered, looking for a new home. By then the cut his mother had left on him had, due to not being treated properly, become infected. The little fae collapsed after a week of walking from pain, and his scaleback stood by his side, ready to protect the fae til his final breath.
Luckily for for LizardWing, DuskWing found him, and rushed him and his Scaleback to her clan's emergency room. She would not leave his side for weeks as the dragonet healed, for she wanted to know what had happened to this mystery dragon. As soon as he awoke, the two became close friends. The hatchlings would do everything together, and could hardly ever be separated. As time went on, the two dragons (and the scaleback of course) would wander, collecting dragons that felt as though they didn't belong, or dragons that were hurt from abuse or neglect.

When Duskwing and LizardWing became adults, LizardWing proposed, and they became forever mates. The two had 8 children, but only one stayed in the clan. LizardWing can often be found playing in the fields with his Scaleback, walking around with DuskWing, or hanging out with friends. He is a dragon who is always willing to help someone, and is an EXCELLENT hunter (Take that LizardWing's mom!). This dragon can never be seen without his mask because he is to embarrassed to let anyone see his ghastly scars.
