Dangerous and near-feral when he approached the Brightclaw, Orion's first instinct upon seeing the tight-knit clan was to find their most dangerous and beloved hunter and challenge them, and challenge her he did, pouncing on Arthemis and going for the throat. She fought him off with skill and dexterity, and, when she had him pinned and the end of her claws, she showed him mercy. It was then that Orion decided she was the only mate he'd ever want. Arthemis' initial rejection wounded Orion, but he soon realized it wasn't him she found distasteful: rather, it was the way he'd declared his devotion. He decided to stay on with the clan, learning to become a proper dragon again instead of a feral mess of a thing, and even training in Arthemis' favored weapon, trying to catch up to her skills, though he truly doesn't mind her beating him: after all, her strength and skill was what attracted him to her in the first place. After a time of learning and growing with the clan, Arthemis accepted Orion's renewed offer of courtship, and the two became mates. Arthemis' clan-brother Nur enjoys giving Orion a hard time about his defeat at Arthemis' claws or the sloppy, untamed edge to his fighting, a vestige of his time feral, but Orion takes it all with a grain of salt... Now, that is. The first time, he'd tried fighting Nur for the insults, and Arthemis had to step in to lecture both of them about fighting and provoking each other. After she explained that Nur didn't actually mean what he said, but was simply giving Orion a hard time because he wanted only the best for Arthemis, Orion started joining Nur when he trained, trying to gain the older Spiral's respect so he'd approve of his sister's choice. |
